The famed Pink and White Terraces, described as "The eighth wonder of the world" were thought destroyed by the eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886, though some submerged remnants on the bed of Lake Rotomahana were rediscovered in 2011.[1] In 2017, researchers finally mapped the locations of the Pink and White Terraces.[2][3]
