  • Kapitan's - established in 1914, Kapitan's was a well-known restaurant in Johannesburg and was one of the city's oldest restaurants.[1][2][3] In the 1950s, Nelson Mandela frequently lunched here, and brought his future wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, here on their first date.[2][3] Madanjit Ranchod worked at the restaurant for 63 years, and the restaurant closed after he died in December 2007.[2]
