List of Western Sydney Wanderers FC seasons

The following lists seasons of the Western Sydney-based professional soccer club, Western Sydney Wanderers FC.

History

Western Sydney Wanderers was founded in April 2012, by Football Federation Australia as a Western Sydney-based club to compete in the national A-League competition.[1] On 17 May, Tony Popovic was announced as inaugural head coach of the new club.[2] And on 25 July, after just two months of developing a squad, the club played its first friendly match against local club, Nepean.[3] On 6 October, Western Sydney Wanderers played their first competitive match of any kind against Central Coast Mariners in the first round of the 2012–13 A-League season.[4] During their first season, Wanderers quickly emerged as one of the leading clubs in Australia.[5] The club went on to win their first A-League Premiership, and a top-six placing in the A-League table gave the club a place in the A-League Finals Series which they eventually finished runners-up to Central Coast Mariners in the 2013 A-League Grand Final.[6]
