  • Sergio Osmeña Sr. (Elem & H.S., valedictorian 1892 and AB, highest distinction 1896 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) fourth president and first vice president of the Philippines, second senate president pro tempore, former senator, first Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary of Public Instruction, Health and Public Welfare, second elected governor of Cebu.[1]
  • Don Vicente Rama (AB, 1904 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) "The Father of Cebu City", former Senator of the Philippines, 1st National Assemblyman, former Congressman of the third district of Cebu, 1st Mayor of Cebu City. He authored as primary sponsor of the bill making Cebu City a Chartered City.[2]
  • Mariano Jesus Cuenco (AB, 1904 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) fourth president of the Senate and former senator of the Philippines (1941–1964), former member of the House of Representatives, Governor of Cebu and Secretary of Public Works and Communication during the Phil. Commonwealth era.[2]
  • Vicente Sotto (Elem & H.S., 1891 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) former senator of the Philippines, considered the "Father of Cebuano Literature" and he was the main author of the Press Freedom Law (now known as the Sotto Law, Republic Act No. 53).[2]
  • Atty. Napoleon G. Rama Sr., PLH (AB & LLB, 1954) Award-winning journalist (Journalist of the Year), columnist, publisher of the Manila Bulletin, member of the 1986 Constitutional Commission, and in 1987, Floor Leader of the Constitutional Convention. awarded the Premio Zobel in 1992. Ninoy Aquino Memorial Award 1990. Awarded the Philippine Legion of Honor/Order of Lakandula (Grand Commander) on February 26, 2011.[9]
  • Dionisio A. Jakosalem – (Elem & H.S., 1892 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) former governor of Cebu, first Filipino to become a member of the official cabinet during the American Commonwealth regime. He was also part of the first Philippine Independence Mission which was sent to the United States under the leadership of former President Quezon.[7]
  • Sotero B. Cabahug – (AB, 1904 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) former governor of Cebu, Member of the House of Representatives during the American Commonwealth regime. Post war Secretary of Public Works and Communications, Secretary of National Defense, and Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals (1956-1962).[3]
  • Filemon Sotto (Elem & H.S., 1897 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) former senator of the Philippines; he founded several newspapers among which were El Imperial, Ang Kaluwasan, La Opinion, and La Revolucion.[2]

  • Emilio Mario Osmeña (BS Commerce, 1958) also known as Lito Osmeña, former governor of Cebu (1988–1992), founder and chairman of PROMDI Party (Probinsya Muna Development Initiative or Provinces First Development Initiative).[9]
  • John Henry Osmeña (BS Mech Eng, 1957) also known as Sonny Osmeña. Former senator of the Philippines, chair of the Senate Committee on Finance and Blue Ribbon Fact Finding Committee, authored and sponsored the Senate Bill on the Modernization and Expansion of the Energy Infrastructure of the Phils. and the Capability Development and Strengthening of the Department of Energy. Former member of the House of Representatives and currently city mayor of Toledo City, Cebu.[2]
  • Antonio Abad (AB, 1914 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) Premio Zobel winner in 1928 and 1929. He was a poet, fiction author, playwright and essayist.[7]
  • Archbishop Jose Maria Cuenco (AB, 1905 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) Vicar General of the Cebu Archdiocese in 1925 and the First Archbishop of Jaro, Iloilo.[7]
  • Miguel Cuenco – (AB, 1918 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) former Congressman, 5th District of Cebu (1931-1965). He pursued studies on Diplomacy and International Relations at the Georgetown University in Washington D.C. after passing the bar as lawyer in the Phils.[8]
  • Hilario G. Davide, Jr. (Honorary Alumnus) former chief justice of the Supreme Court. Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations in New York. He was also the Truth Commissioner of the Philippines. A recipient of the Papal Award the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Sylvester Pope and Martyr. He serves the USC Board of Trustees.[6]
  • Raul del Mar (BS Commerce, 1961) former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines.[9]
  • Ramon Fernandez (BS Commerce, 1972) PBA player and awarded most valuable player (MVP) in four (4) different seasons of the PBA.[9]
  • Aniano A. Desierto (H.S. & AA, 1950) former ombudsman of the Republic of the Philippines.[9]

  • Jesus Estanislao, PhD (AB Economics, summa cum laude 1950) former Secretary of Finance, president and CEO of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). Founding and charter president (1992–1997) of the University of Asia and the Pacific, Pasig, Metro Manila.[4]
  • Lourdes Reynes Quisumbing, PhD (MA Education, 1951) first female Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports. She is the president of the Asia-Pacific Network for International Education and Values Education (APNIEVE) and former president of Miriam College in Quezon City, Metro Manila.[5]
  • Pablo P. Garcia (AB & LLB, 1950) former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Congress of the Philippines. Served as Governor of Cebu from 1995 to 2004.[9]
  • Bishop Juan Gorordo (AB, 1882 Colegio Seminario de San Carlos) First Filipino Bishop of Cebu.[7]
  • Marcelo Briones Fernan (Honorary Alumnus) former senator of the Philippines, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Senate President. He was a member of the USC Board of Trustees.[6]
  • Lauro Mumar (AB, 1947 Colegio de San Carlos) former Filipino basketball player and later served as the national team head coach of India and the Philippines. He led the San Carlos College of Cebu City (now the University of San Carlos) to the first post-war Inter-Collegiate basketball championship in 1946.[7]
  • Hilario P. Davide III – (LLB, 1995) governor of Cebu on June 30, 2013 to present, son of former Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr. Former councilor of Cebu City and lawyer.[9]
  • John Geesnell Yap II – (BS Accountancy, 1998) mayor of Tagbilaran City on June 30, 2013 to present, former councilor of Tagbilaran City and chief accountant of their family business at Bohol Tropics Resort; at age 38 he is one of the youngest city mayors in the country.[9]
  • Celestino E. Martinez, Jr. – (BS commerce, 1962) mayor of Bogo City, Cebu and former member of the House of Representatives, team manager of USC Warriors, as 2015 CESAFI champion.[13]
  • Julius Caesar Herrera (AB Political Science, 1976) vice-governor of Bohol, 2001 to 2010.[9]

  • Atty. Augusto Go (AB & LLB, 1958) chairman of the board, president and founder of the University of Cebu.[9]
  • Wilfred Steven Uytengso, Sr. (Elem, 1942 Colegio de San Carlos) founder, chairman of the board and CEO General Milling Corporation in the late 50s, which eventually became Alaska Milk Corporation.[9]
  • John Gokongwei, Jr. (Elem & H.S. 1939 Colegio de San Carlos) Filipino Chinese business magnate, self-made billionaire, philanthropist, founder and chairman of JG Summit Holdings, one of the largest diversified conglomerates in the Phils. As of 2015, Gokongwei is the second richest person in the Philippines with a net worth of $5.5 billion, ranking behind only Henry Sy, the Phils. richest person. He was conferred an honorary Doctor of Science degree in Business and Enterprise Development by USC in 2004 for his contribution to the economic growth and development of the country's commerce, trade and industry.[9]
  • Stephen Sy Gaisano, Sr. – (AB, 1939 Colegio de San Carlos) Patriarch of the Gaisano Retail Chain, the premier retailing empire in the southern Phils with branches nationwide. He succeeded as head of the corporation from his mother Dona Modesta Singson Gaisano the matriarch and fore founder of the family business who first established the White Gold Dept. Store in Cebu City in the 1950s. He established the Dona Modesta Gaisano Foundation which grants and supports hundreds of poor and deserving students in Cebu. He was conferred an honorary Doctorate degree in Education and Entrepreneurship by USC in 2005.[11]
  • Arcadio C. Alegrado – (BS Commerce, 1958) founder, chairman and president of Alenter Group of Companies. Alenter Resort Corp. operates and manages Blue Water Resort Group chain of 5 star resort hotels in the Visayas islands, Alenter Cane Corp. a furniture and houseware export., Alenter Foods Inc. processed foods export and the Allegiant Health Care Hospitals in Cebu, Bohol and Butuan City, Mindanao. "Dodong" Arcadio as he was fondly called, was Honorary Consul of Austria for the Visayas and Mindanao; he was also on the Board of Trustees of USC.[9]
  • Benito Gaisano (BS Commerce, 1976) founder of the Gaisano Grand Group of Companies.[12]
  • Jack Gaisano (BS Chem Eng, 1976) chairman and president of Taft Property Venture Development Corporation, Midland Development Corporation, and Vsec.com Inc. He sits as president and vice chairman of HTLand, Inc. He also holds directorship posts at Vicsal Development Corporation, Vicsal Investment, Inc., Pacific Mall Corporation, and JV. Com. Holdings Inc.[13]
  • Eugene Acevedo (BS Physics, magna cum laude 1984) former president and CEO of the Philippine National Bank (PNB).[9]
  • Alberto Villarosa – (Commerce, 1971) chairman of the board, president and CEO of the Security Bank of the Philippines.[14]
  • Justin Uy (BS Chem Eng, 1983) founder and CEO of Profood International, the largest tropical fruit processing, manufacturer & exporter of dried mangoes and tropical fruits in the Phils and Asia. Export market includes US, Canada, UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America and South Africa.[13]
  • Napoleon L. Nazareno (BS Mech Eng, 1970) president and CEO, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company and president and CEO, Smart Communications. His leadership expanded the technology infrastructure and market share of PLDT Smart as Phil. largest telecommunication company. Awarded as Top Corporate Executive of the Phils. and Southeast Asia and was conferred an honorary degree Doctor of Technology by USC in 2012.[9]
  • Jesus Alcordo (BS Chem Eng, 1961) president of Utilities Filinvest Development Corp. (FDC). Concurrently chairman, president and CEO of East Asia Power Resources Corp., former president of National Power Corporation, Global Business Power Corporation, Cebu Energy Development Corporation, and Panay Energy Development Corporation. He is a commissioner of the Phil. Energy Regulatory Commission. USC conferred him an honorary Doctor of Science in Engineering degree in 2011.[9]
  • Benson Dakay (BS Commerce, 1976) founder and ex-CEO, chairman of the board, president of the Shemberg Group of Companies, the largest seaweeds processing, carrageenan manufacturer and exporter in the Phils. with major export markets in US, Canada, UK, Europe, Japan and other Asian countries. He led the Phil. campaign for acceptance of Phil. Natural Grade (PNG) carrageenan as a nontoxic food additive in the US and European Union which won approval and kept the Phil. carrageenan world market. He was awarded as Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines (TOYM) for Aquaculture in 1988 and the Golden Shell award for his valuable contribution to the development of Philippine aquaculture, processed seaweeds and carrageenan export industry.[13]
  • Chester C. Cokaliong – (BS Commerce, 1981) founder, chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc., one of the major and largest inter-island shipping companies serving the Visayas and Mindanao.[13]
  • Pio B. Castillo – (BS Commerce, 1980) and Dennis B. Wong (BS Mech Eng, 1978) CEO and president and COO, vice-president, managing director & general manager respectively of International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. which has expanded from a Cebu homegrown pharmaceuticals company to a nationwide market and manufacturing plants in Luzon and Mindanao.[15]
  • Nicholas S. Laoguico – (BS Mech Eng, 1954) first graduate of an engineering school in Visayas and Mindanao that achieved first place on the Mechanical Engineering board exam in August 1954. He graduated magna cum laude and was on scholarship in Germany. He migrated with his family to the United States and worked as senior design engineer of Lockheed Corp.[9]
  • Emmanuel B. Lebumfacil – (BS Commerce, 1956) mayor of Toledo City, Cebu 1980 to 1986. Prior to entering politics he was president and general manager of Cebu Bottlers Corp. and president of Toledo Development Corp.[9]
  • Carlos S. Go – (BS Commerce, 1959), executive vice president, Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp.(formerly Sulpicio Lines Inc.).[9]
  • Adelino B. Sitoy – (LLB, cum laude 1960) secretary and presidential adviser on legislative liaison in 2016. He was Asst. City Fiscal of Cebu City in 1963, Acting City Fiscal of Toledo City, commissioner of the Cebu Port Authority, and director of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District. He was elected municipal councilor of Cordova, Cebu in 1975, provincial board member of Cebu in 1975-84; one of the six Assemblymen of Cebu in 1984; Mayor of Cordova, Cebu for 3 terms (2007-2016) and vice-mayor in 2016.
  • Dr. Tomas L. Fernandez – (BS Biology, cum laude 1960) former dean, Cebu Institute of Medicine, he instituted and established the Biomedical Research of a leading medical school in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.[9]
  • Vicente Bendanillo, Jr. – (BS Chem Eng, 1961) A consistent honor student, he graduated magna cum laude and achieved first place on the Chemical Engineering board exam in October 1961. He was sent on scholarship in Germany. He migrated with his family to the United States and was employed as process engineer and R&D specialist at Dupont Chemicals.[9]
  • Roy V. Kyamko, Lt. Gen. AFP – (AB, 1962) retired lieutenant general and commanding general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Southern Command (Southcom) during operations against the Abu Sayyaf Group in 2004. Upon retirement from active military service he was appointed by President Gloria Arroyo as Undersecretary of the Department of Energy in 2007 and in concurrent capacity as executive director of the Presidential Task Force on the Security of Energy Facilities and Enforcement of Energy Laws and Standards.[9]
  • Leopoldo Yau, PhD – (BS Electrical Engineering, 1962) A consistent honor student, he graduated magna cum laude, was awarded a Fulbright graduate scholarship, and completed his Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering at the University of Illinois (U of I) specializing in solid state electronics. He was a university professor and senior research scientist at the U of I until his retirement.[9]
  • Jesus V. Juario, PhD – (BS Biology / Zoology, magna cum laude, 1963) fisheries and aquaculture scientist, previously research program leader of Finfish at Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center in Tigbauan, Iloilo City. Professor emeritus and former dean of the University of the Philippines Visayas College at Cebu. Consultant of international funded projects by USAID, DED and GTZ of Germany and JICA of Japan on fisheries, aquaculture, coastal resource management, environmental impact assessment in the Visayas regions. He finished his Master of Science in Zoology at the University of Hawaii, USA through an East-West Center graduate scholarship and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Marine Biology at the University of Hamburg, Germany through the German Academic Exchange post graduate scholarship. Awarded as Outstanding Filipino Scientist by the National Academy of Science and Technology in 1990, Most Outstanding Teacher (College Level) by Metrobank Foundation in 1992 and Most Outstanding Faculty of the University of the Philippines Visayas in 1986 to 1989.[9]
  • Luisa L. Sia-Casey – (BS Math, 1963) principal senior research statistician of Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Illinois, United States where she provided technical support to company scientists on pharmacokinetics, toxicology, medicines discovery and formulation, design of experiments and troubleshooting of manufacturing processes.[9]
  • Antonio Chian – (BS Chem Eng, 1964) after graduation he joined Manila Rubber Corp. and took specialized training on rubber and plastics technology by the American Chemical Society. After 12 yrs. in the company, he established his own chemical company in Cebu, Newman Chemicals Corp. in 1975. He expanded his businesses with four more companies: Alpha Novell International Industrial Corp., Linkworld Designs Inc., Calsland Realty and Development Corp. and CP Newman Industries Corp.[9]
  • Dr. Pek Eng Lim – (BS Biology,1965) renowned physician and specialist of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Cebu Chong Hua Hospital and Cebu Doctor's Hospital; he serves as chairman of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) of Metro Cebu.[9]
  • Afrodesia C. Lopoz – (BS Chem Eng, 1965) energy conservation, hazardous waste management coordinator and process research and development engineer of Chevron Corporation Refinery in New Jersey, United States.[9]
  • Eugenio V. Corazo – (BS Mech Eng, 1966) he graduated cum laude, the first Filipino to earn a scholarship from Teagle Foundation for graduate school in business administration and industrial management at Tulane University in New Orleans, United States. He was senior engineer with the Engineering Division of ESSO Standard Eastern, Inc.[9]
  • Marilou P. Tadlip, EdD – (BEd in Library Science, magna cum laude 1967 and EdD, 1995) executive director and chairperson of National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Committee on Libraries and Information Services, Office of the president since 2012. She was previously director of the University Library System of USC from 1976 to 2011 and chairperson of the Department of Library and Information System of USC School of Liberal Arts and Sciences from 2007 to 2011. She obtained a Master in Library Science at University of Hawaii in 1971 and was awarded as Outstanding Professional Librarian in 2014 by the Professional Regulation Commission.[9]
  • Carlos G. Co – (BS Chem Eng, 1968) chairman, president and director of several well-known commercial establishments in Cebu and the Visayas including Oversea Agri-Aqua International Development Corp., Cebu Overseas Hardware, Cebu Home Builders Inc. and Parkmall.[9]
  • Isaias P. Dicdican – (LLB, magna cum laude 1970), associate justice and executive justice of the Court of Appeals of Cebu and Manila. He was a full-time college instructor and lecturer, while he took up law at USC as a scholar. After placing 11th in the 1970 bar exam, he went into private practice. He was appointed as presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 11 of Cebu in 1995 prior to his appointment as Court of Appeals Associate Justice.[9]
  • Fermin T. Chio – (BS Commerce, 1973), senior vice president, Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company.[9]
  • Joel Mari Yu – (BS Commerce, 1974) former assistant secretary and regional director for Central Visayas of the Department of Trade and Industry in 1990 to 1998, executive director of Cebu Investment Promotions and Adviser to the Cebu City Mayor for Business and Economic Development and Investment Promotions.[9]
  • Jose Mari T. Bigornia – (BS Electrical Eng, 1973 and BS Electronics & Comm Eng, 1975) ASEAN Professional Electrical Engineer and ASEAN Professional Electronics and Communications Engineer. President of the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDFIT), and chairman, Confederation of Scientific and Professional Organizations (COSPO) Central Visayas, an affiliated NGO of the Department of Science and Technology Region VII.[9]
  • Marie Ernestine D. Fajatin, PhD – (BEd, 1968 and PhD, 1977) founder, chairperson and president of Marine Ernestine School (MES), a private educational institution in Cebu since 1976 which primarily serves Cebu's multinational community and provides basic education from nursery, kindergarten, preparatory, elementary and secondary. The school pioneered the use of Cooperative Learning, Authentic Assessment and Dimensions of Learning. It has produced 5,000 graduates; the majority have been admitted to international colleges and universities in the US, Canada, Europe and other countries in Asia.[9]
  • Gerard Lee B. Co – (BS Commerce, 1979), executive vice president and group head, Commercial Banking in Visayas and Mindanao, Banco de Oro Inc.[9]
  • Pericles Dakay, PhD (BS civil engineering, cum laude 1985) president, CEO of Dakay Construction Corporation, one of the largest construction companies in the Phils. with projects in the southeast Asia region. Dr. Dakay is a PhD in structural engineering, a university scholar and former member of the university's board of trustees.[16]
  • Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung (B.Ed., 1977) founder and chairperson of the Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung Charitable Foundation Inc. or MSYCFI.[17]
  • Luz Mancao Sandiego (AB, 1952) pioneer researcher and conservator of indigenous Cebuano folk dances, founder of the Sandiego Dance Studio which produced the nationally and internationally acclaimed Sandiego Cultural Dancers. She organized and developed the USC Dance Troupe and Physical Education program of USC.[18]
  • Fe Sala Villarica (AB, 1950) nationally known Cebuana Ballerina and founder of the Ballet Center in Cebu, and organized the Queen City Junior Ballet Company. Founder, Teatro Folklorico Ballet Center West in San Diego, California, USA.[18]
  • Concepcion Rodil Martirez (AB, 1959) founder of St. Martin de Porres School for the Mentally Retarded and Hearing Impaired in 1966.[18]
  • Lelani E. Paredes (AB, 1963) first female president of the National Press Club, Cebu Chapter.[18]
  • Araceli G. Almase, PhD (BS Pharmacy & MS Biology, 1962) former regional director of the Department of Science and Technology Region 7; she established the Regional Standards, Testing & Calibration Laboratories in Cebu, the first one outside Metro Manila to cater to and serve the needs of industries, academe, private and public sectors in the region.[18]
  • Melva C. Rodriguez Java (BS Arch, 1972) architect and proponent of conservation of heritage programs in the Visayas regions, former dean, College of Architecture & Fine Arts, University of San Carlos.[18]
  • Zenaida R. Uy (AB & MA, 1962) led the Open Mass Movement during the Marcos dictatorship, chairperson of USC Sociology & Anthropology Department.[18]
  • Erlinda Kintanar Alburo, PhD (AB, 1964) the "Schovocate" of Heritage and Literary Scholarship, she is a contemporary scholar and advocate of Cebuano language and literature as former director of USC's Cebuano Studies Center. A recipient of several local and national awards, Best Research Program Award of CHED Region VII in 2008, the National Commission of Culture & Arts Literary Award in 2010, and the Gawad Paz Marquez Benitez Award of 2015 as an outstanding Philippine literature teacher and researcher. Presently, she is a commissioner of Cebu City Historical and Cultural Affairs since 2010.[18]
  • Lilian Sta. Ana-Yared Overs – (BEd, 1966) co-founder and chairperson of Tesari Charitable Foundation based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The foundation supports medical, public health, educational, socio-cultural and community livelihood programs in Toledo City and nearby municipalities on the west coast of Cebu. She established the Lebumfacil Santa Ana Medical Foundation in Toledo City which serves the marginalized sector and Capilla Santa Ana Museum and Community Center to promote culture, arts and tourism in Toledo City. Lilian actively supports the Ontario Carolinians Inc. USC alumni association in Canada.[9]
  • Socorro Atega, Landscape Architect – (BS Arch, 1980) executive director and past president of the Cebu Uniting for Sustainable Water Foundation (CUSW); trustee and vice-chairperson of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment; Past Program Coordinator for Landscape Architecture in the University of San Carlos School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Design. She represents CUSW in the Cebu City River Management Council, Parks and Playgrounds Commission, Central Cebu Protected Landscape Management Board, and Technical Team of Cebu Provincial Environment Committee. She obtained her master's degree in Landscape Architecture at Harvard University in 1983, and was awarded Outstanding Individual of the Year 2013 by the Cebu City Government.[18]
  • Ernesto Pernia, PhD – (AB Economics, magna cum laude 1967) Secretary of Economic Development and Planning and director general of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) under the President Duterte administration cabinet, former lead economist, Economics and Research Department (ERD) of Asian Development Bank (ADB), Formerly principal economist and senior economist of ADB. He was also Regional Adviser on Population and Employment Policy and Research for Asia and the Pacific, International Labour Office (Bangkok) and Research Fellow, East-West Center Resource Systems Institute, Honolulu. He has a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. (Economics) from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and an A.B. (Economics) at USC. Former chair and member of the USC Board of Trustees, professor emeritus in economics at UP Diliman. Recently in February 2015 the Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering (PASSE) awarded him Leadership in Science and Economics for his excellence in policy research and publications of social sciences, economics and technology in national development.[19]
  • Mel Cenen Samiento – (BS Commerce, 1982) former secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 2015 to 2016, was a member of the House of Representatives representing the 1st Legislative District of Samar from 2010 to 2016, and Mayor of Calbayog City from 2001 to 2010. He was also the secretary general of the League of Cities of the Philippines from 2004-2010. He was awarded the Konrad Adenauer Medal of Excellence by the Ambassador of Germany, H. E. Axel Weishaupt in December 2017.[30]
  • Resil Mojares, PhD (AB & MA, 1967) Filipino historian and critic; he was Founding Director (1975–1996) of USC's Cebuano Studies Center, a pioneering local studies center in the Philippines. Visiting professor in leading Ivy league universities in the US, Canada, UK and Europe.[9]
  • Nemesio E. Montano, PhD – (BS chemistry, magna cum laude 1970) multi-awarded Filipino scientist in the field of marine natural products and marine pollution chemistry, professor, senior scientist and director of UP Diliman Marine Science Research Institute. He played a key role in the formulation of the standard specifications of carrageenan and raw dried seaweed. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including Outstanding Professional Award 2012 by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), Outstanding Chemist of the Philippines 2011 and Outstanding Scientist of the Philippines 2013.[9]
  • Zenaida Ygnacio Monsada, MS – (BS chemistry, 1972) first female Secretary of Energy of the Philippines. A member of the Cabinet in charge of the Department of Energy appointed by President Benigno Aquino III and assumed office on July 2, 2015.[20]
  • Dr. Arturo T. Mancao – (BS Biology, 1975) physician-surgeon and consultant in general surgery at Cebu Doctor's Hospital, Chong Hua Hospital, Perpetual Succour and Sacred Heart Hospitals in Metro Cebu.[9]
  • Simeon P. Dumdum – (LLB '76) judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Cebu City, a multi-awarded writer. He was five-time winner of the Don Carlos Palanca Awards for Literature in the 1980s, and the Best Book award in the poetry category of the 30th National Book Awards held at the National Museum in Manila in 2011. He studied for the priesthood in Galway, Ireland prior to taking up law at USC.[9]
  • Stephen A. Tan – (BS Accounting, 1977) chief finance officer and comptroller of the Cebu Landmasters Inc. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a holder of Master in Business Administration, with distinction, from Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven in Belgium and a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University. Stephen is also a Hubert H. Humphrey (Fulbright) Fellow in Agricultural Economics at the University of California, Davis. Mr. Tan served as chief finance officer and comptroller of a number of companies like Aboitiz Construction Group, Inc., FBMA Marine, Inc., Aboitizland, Inc., InfoWeapons Corporation, and Pilmico Foods Corporation, among others. He is also a part-time instructor for more than 30 years, having taught at the University of San Carlos and University of the Philippines.[9]
  • Gabriel T. Ingles, LLM – (AB & LLB, 1981) associate justice and executive justice of the Court of Appeals stationed in Cebu City. Formerly a Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court of Cebu City Branch 58, president of the Integrated Bar of the Phils. (IBP) Cebu City 1997 to 1999 and dean, USC School of Law 1994 to 2000. Recipient of awards from IBP National as Most Outstanding Chapter President, Most Outstanding Boholano in Field of Law from the Provincial Govt. of Bohol and Boholano Worldwide Organization and Outstanding Carolinian Alumnus in 2001. He graduated Cum Laude Bachelor of Law st USC in 1981.[21]
  • Edgardo L. DeLos Santos – (AB & LLB, 1977) associate justice of the Court of Appeals stationed in Bacolod City. Formerly a Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod City and known as a "no nonsense" judge when he tried a number of celebrated and controversial criminal cases.[21]
  • Joseph A. Cabides, AFP – (AB, 1970) major general (retired), formerly brigadier general as Commander and Chief of the Armed Forces of the Phils. Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM) based at the national and general headquarters in Camp President Emilio Aguinaldo, Manila.[22]
  • Omar Maxwell Espina – (BS Arch, 1974 & BS Civil Eng, 1983) and Joseph Michael Espina (BS Arch, 1987) – leading and foremost architects in Cebu, principal architects and partners of Espina, Perez-Espina & Associates, Architects which is among the well respected architectural firms in the country with major projects in Luzon and Visayas involving commercial establishments, universities, schools & colleges, malls, condominium & hotels, medical center buildings and residences in plush subdivisions. Both of them were involved with academe as assistant professors and deans of the USC School of Architecture, Fine Arts & Design. They have master's degrees in Urban & Regional Planning at UP Diliman and are fellows of the United Architects of the Phils., Phil. Institute of Civil Engineers and Phil. Institute of Environmental Planners.[23]
  • Fortunato O. Sanchez Jr. – (BS civil eng, 1978) professional civil & structural engineer with his license obtained in California, U.S. and earned his M.S. in Civil & Structural Engineering from Stanford University. He worked with Wahler Associates, a geo-technical engineering consulting firm in Silicon Valley. Upon returning home in Cebu, together with his two siblings Carolinian engineers they established a family construction company (Socor) and diversified into real estate development, shipping, aquaculture and mining. Presently he is technical consultant of the Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board (MCDCB), professor of USC Civil Engineering Graduate program and advisor / consultant of students and faculty members on project studies relating to infrastructure development of Cebu. He served the USC Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2003.[24]
  • Armando Guangko – (BS Chem Eng, 1963), Douglas Gacasan (BS Chem Eng, 1968) and Godofredo Alcantara (BS Mech Eng, 1971) – Carolinian engineers who jointly ventured and established the Product Equipment Resources and Trading Corp. (PERT) in 1988. The industrial enterprise grew into a major metal casting company with its foundry facilities in Mandaue City boasting of three types of casting operations for copper, cast iron and sheet alloys. The company has expanded with 1,300 employees operating 7 branches in strategic areas nationwide catering to the mining, cement, power, chemical and allied industries in the country with quality and precision metal casting parts and equipment. PERT is ISO 9001-2008 certified.[25]
  • Bunny Pages – (BS Chem Eng, 1968) chairman and CEO of Pages Holdings Inc. (PHI) which owns and manages various food enterprises and restaurants in Metro Cebu which include Thirsty Fruit Juices and Shakes with 130 franchised outlets nationwide, Moon Café with 20 branches, Lantaw Native Restaurant, Fruit full, Mismukuno Teppanyaki, Rico's Lechon, Cafe Racer, Sushi Boy, and a preparatory school BRIGHT Academy, among others. He was awarded as Entrepreneur of the Year for 2015 of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Aside from being a businessman he is also an active member of Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (CITOM) Board and does hosting of major events in Cebu.[26]
  • Ernesto Codina – (BS Mech Eng, 1972) Filipino-American mechanical engineer, first Philippine-educated engineer to work directly with the United States (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and was fortunate to be selected as one of the few engineers to design hardware for the astronauts. One of the most important NASA projects he was involved in was the design of a jet pack in 1996 that would aid the astronauts during their space walk; the jet pack helps astronauts propel themselves back to the spacecraft. After over two decades of working in the aerospace industry in the US, he decided to come home so he could help the Phils. develop aeronautics education and industry.[28]
  • Mariano R. Alquiza – (BS Civil Eng, 1974) regional director, National Capital region (Metro Manila) and previously in the Davao region of the Department of Public Works and Highways responsible for implementation of vital infrastructure projects in the region.[9]
  • Antonio Camelo P. Tompar – (BS Mech Eng, 1974) chairman of the board, president / CEO of Mactan Rock Industries, Inc. and Aquapure Resources, Inc. Arbitrator of the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission. Former president of the Philippine Environmental Management Professionals Association, board of directors of the Pollution Control Association of the Phils. and former vice president national of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers. Obtained his B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of San Carlos and Masters in Business Administration at MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology and University of San Jose Recoletos. He is a Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) and recipient of the Outstanding Carolinian Alumni Award in the field of Environmental Management in 2010.[13]
  • Janette Nellie Go Chiu – (BS Commerce, 1976) president of GCH Holdings, Inc. and Project Coordinator of GCH Foundation which engage in a supplemental feeding program among malnourished children and in empowering women by spearheading barangay livelihood projects.[9]
  • Rebecca S. Flores – (BS Chem Eng, summa sum laude 1977) senior vice president of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Brewery, first woman brewmaster in the beer manufacturing industry in the Phils. and responsible in the setting-up and overseas operations of SMC Brewery in China. Consistent university scholar, she achieved first place on the chemical engineer licensure exam in 1977. She took her master of management degree (with highest distinction) at the Asian Institute of Management, Makati and advanced brewmaster training in Germany.[31]
  • Leonora B. Salvane – (BS Chem Eng, 1977) founder, chairman and chief operating officer of GT Cosmetics Manufacturing Inc., which has four processing plant facilities in Cebu, Bulacan and Manila. GT Cosmetics was awarded by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry as Best Countryside Company in 2016. Bulk of its market is in Visayas and Mindanao with growing "satisfied" customers in Luzon. It has embarked on export markets in Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, China, Australia, Canada and the United States.[9]
  • Gloria J. Mercado, PhD MNSA – (AB Economics, 1979) undersecretary / deputy cabinet secretary and executive director of Performance and Project Management, Office of the president of the Philippines. She is at the forefront of building a development and security governance framework, alongside the Ministers for Planning and Defense. She was recently promoted to rank as the first female Commodore of the Philippine Navy Reserve Force.[9]
  • Philip N. Tan – (BS Commerce, 1980) founder, CEO and president of Wellmade Motors and Development Corporation based in Mandaue City. He pioneered unique processes that revolutionize the metalworking industry in the country. Mr. Tan innovated the build-operate-transfer scheme and set up machine shop franchises nationwide and overseas; in 1995 his company became the only ISO 9001-2000 certified machine shop in the Phils. and noted as among the best in precision machining, fusion welding and metal manufacturing facilities. He is a recipient of Entrepreneur of Year 2014 and Innovation Entrepreneur 2015 awarded by President Aquino in Malacanang. Presently he is the president of the Mandaue City (Cebu) Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and former president of the USC Carolinian Alumni Association.[27]
  • Pilar T. Banaag – (BSC Accounting 1981) publisher, editor, printer, real estate practitioner, president and general manager of Iwag Printing and Publishing, Golden Banner Publications, and Larriegil Realty.[9]
  • Fe Corazon S. Limjap – (BS Psychology, 1981) founder, president and chief executive officer of Wellness Plus Psychology Pty Ltd in New South Wales, Australia and a registered company with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. She is a registered and practicing Clinical Psychologist in Australia and first Filipino graduate with honors in Master of Arts in Psychology at the University of Canterbury Graduate School in Christchurch, New Zealand.[9]
  • Allan G. Alfon – (Elem & HS, 1977 and BS Civil Eng, 1982) president of Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp., general manager and vice president for External Relations of Aboitizland Inc. Mactan Economic Zone 2 and was formerly Retail Development and marketing director of Petron Corp. He was previously Network Development Manager nationwide of Jollibee Foods Corp. He obtained his Masters of Management at Asian Institute of Management in 2002.[9]
  • Luz S. Almeda, PhD – (BS Ed, 1969 and MA, 1983) regional director, National Capital Region (Metro Manila) of the Department of Education. She has contributed to adoption of cutting edge and innovative educational programs for restructuring basic education in the Philippines.[9]
  • Ramon R. Durano IV – (BS Commerce, 1983) vice-mayor of Danao City, Cebu from 2004 to 2010, director of Development Bank of the Philippines, board of Regent of Cebu Technological University representing Senator Edgardo Angara and president of Club Filipino de Cebu.[9]
  • Ofelia Odilao Bisnar, PhD – (HS, valedictorian 1981 and AB Economics, magna cum laude 1985) president and chief executive officer of OB Management and Business Consultancy since 2007, previously president and CEO of Makati Medical Center College of Nursing, Human Resource Management Consultant of Acer Phils. Inc. and executive management director of admissions, registry and student services of the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City, Metro Manila. She completed and holds post graduate degrees of Doctor in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2018, Master in Planning and Urban Development from Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1996 and Master in Business Management at the Asian Institute of Management in 1988.[9]
  • Clayton H. Tugonon – (BS Biology, 1982 and LLB, 1986) executive director of Center for the International Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry. He is also president, chief operating officer and Product Designer of Classic Geometry Export Trading Corp., a top furniture exporter based in Cebu. He is one of the Philippines' newest breed of contemporary furniture designers who brings delight to the world with his unfamiliar use of indigenous materials. His creative and innovative designs earned awards from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Slovakia. His lamp made of termite mound won him an award in New York.[9]
  • Cid L. Terosa, PhD – (AB Economics, magna cum laude 1986) associate professor and dean of the School of Economics, University of Asia and the Pacific and chief research economist of the Center for Research and Communications, Manila. A specialist in economic input-output analysis, benefit incidence analysis, and econometric forecasting, he has conducted simulations of proposed tax measures for concerned industries; analyses of the multiplier effects and socio-economic impact of firms; and analyses of how bottom-of-the-pyramid beneficiaries have benefited from implemented projects, for an international NGO.[9]
  • Melanie Chua Ng – (BS Biology, cum laude 1987) Outcomes of her business experiences include being president of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry 2016 to 2017, and chief finance officer and executive vice president of Ng Khai Development Corporation, one of the pioneer Information Technology companies in Cebu. She also serves as director of Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority, president of the Philippine Retailers' Association in Cebu and director of Philippine Business for Social Progress.[9]
  • Jemma S. Semaña – (BS Archt, 1988) vice president for Mindanao regions, Federation of United Architects of the Philippines; she is an active advocate and proponent of ecosystem-based architecture and planning, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation programs in Northern Mindanao.[9]
  • Ronnel C. Rivera – (BS Commerce, 1990) city mayor of General Santos City; before entering politics he was president of the Gensan Shipyard Machine Works, Inc. and the Asia Pacific Canning Corporation. He was also a member of the board of directors for RD Corporation, RD Pawnshop, RD Realty, RD Food International, Inc., and Peninsula Rural Bank, Inc and the executive vice president of RD Fishing Group. He is on the board of trustees of RD Foundation and an active officer of the Rotary Club of Dadiangas.[9]
  • Ana Liza Aleta – (BS Electronics & Comm Eng, magna cum laude 1990) vice president of strategy, systems and performance at Aboitiz Power Corp. Ms. Aleta also serves as an assistant vice president and group information officer at Pilmico Foods Corp. and Pilmico-Mauri Foods Corp. She completed her Master of Management degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman.[32]
  • Christopher Y. Go – (BS Physics, 1991) a Cebuano astronomer, astro-photographer and Carolinian physics graduate who gained national and international recognition when he discovered the Red Spot of the planet Jupiter Oval Ba in 2004, now called Red Spot Jr. He was also part of the astronomical team which studied and imaged the Quad Transit in Saturn by using the Hubble Space Telescope. He organized the USC Astronomical Society in 1988 and in 2006 he became a member of the American Astronomical Society and its Division for Planetary Science (DPS). He was awarded the Philippines Presidential Order for Lakandula for his contribution to Astronomy and the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (ALPO) Walter Haas Award.[9]
  • Jennifer Wee-Tan, DPA – (AB Political Science, 1987 and LLB, 1991) President, Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSC). A former Mayor of Tangub City in Misamis Occidental, chairperson of the Tangub City Tourism Council and Northern Mindanao Tourism Council, and Co-Chair of Area Unified Tourism Organization (AUTO) Mindanao Cluster. She finished a Doctor of Public Administration degree at La Salle University, Ozamis City. During her college years, she was crowned Miss Cebu Tourism in 1986.[9]
  • Marites Melancon, PhD – (BS chemistry, 1994) assistant professor and research specialist on molecular biochemistry at MD Anderson Cancer Center Hospital and Health Care in Houston, Texas, USA. She obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Science and Molecular Biochemistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2007 and Master of Science in chemistry at the Ateneo de Manila University in 2000.[9]
  • Evelyn B. Taboada, PhD – (BS Chem Eng, 1995) an outstanding Carolinian chemical engineer, biochemical process engineering specialist and registered practicing patent attorney. Presently she is a full professor, dean of the USC School of Engineering and director of the Bioprocess Engineering Research Center (BioPERC) of the USC Chemical Engineering Dept. She spearheaded an innovation technology research and product development which is the Phils. first academe-based successful patented technology, and products being commercialized resulted in a start-up company, the Green Environment Management Systems Inc. (GEMS) of which she is the chief technical & operating officer. A recipient of multi-awards nationally and internationally, awarded twice the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Gold Medal for Inventors, her PhD research dissertation won recognition as runner-up for Best Young Scientist's Work during the European Symposium on Biochemical Engineering Sciences (ESBES) in Stuttgart, Germany in 2004. A recipient of the CHED Republika Award in 2007, Ambassador Alfredo M. Yao Intellectual Property Award in 2012, ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award and ASEAN Green Award in 2015 and the 1st Manila Water Foundation Prize for Engineering Excellence Award of 2015.[29]
  • Glenn A. Chong – (LLB, cum laude 1998) former provincial governor and Congressman of Biliran, Eastern Visayas. He implemented various education and health programs in Biliran such as mobile clinics for the barangays, public school bus services, internet connectivity in public schools and establishment of Naval State University. He was conferred Doctor of Humanities honoris causa degree by the Naval State University in 2010 and recipient of Young Leadership Award by Ateneo School of Governance in Manila and German Foundation Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.[9]
  • Atty. Lesley Jeanne Yu Cordero – (AB Philosophy, magna cum laude 2001) former USC Supreme Student Council President. She obtained a Juris Doctor of Laws degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 2005. She was the political communications director of Laurence J. Brahm, a political economist, international crisis mediator, an American lawyer and author based in China. After passing the bar examinations in 2006, she served as a legislative officer in the Office of the Senate Majority Leader Senator Francis Pangilinan.[9]
  • Janet de los Reyes, PhD – (BS chemistry, 2001) associate research scientist at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Mcpherson, Kansas, USA. She has about six years work experience as research analyst and chemist at Hospira Inc. and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.[33]
  • John Paul E. Maunes – (BS Nursing, 2003) chief executive officer and co-founder of Philippine Accessible Deaf Services Inc. a non-profit foundation which advocates a deaf-inclusive society and serves as training center for sign-language interpreters, and initiates programs to address issues of the deaf community: lack of access to quality education, health care, and sexual abuse.[9]
  • Aileen C. Radaza – (BS Commerce, 2004) Congresswoman, House of Representative, Lone District of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu and vice-chairperson of the Committee of Housing and Urban Development, Legislative Franchises and Local Government. She started politics as barangay councilor while managing family business as marketing manager and later became president of Aileen's Craft Manufacturing, a furniture and furnishing export company. In college, she served as vice president for external affairs of the USC Society of Young Business Executives.[9]
  • Mark Anthony Kindica – (BS Electrical Eng, 2004) He graduated summa cum laude and achieved first place on the Electrical Engineering board exam in 2004. He joined Visayan Electric Company in 2009 as power system planning development senior engineer and was responsible for commissioning a power substation.[9]
  • Michael Francis A. Lopez – (Fine Arts Advertising, 2005) A socio-political communicator and stakeholder relations professional with nearly a decade of combined experience in the public sector, broadcast and print mass media. National Commissioner of the National Youth Commission, Office of the president, board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Appeals Committee and head of the Philippines Project Management Unit of the United Nations Population Fund during President Gloria Arroyo's administration.[9]
  • Jay River De La Fuente – (BS Commerce, 2012) municipal mayor of Madridejos, a 4th class municipality in Bantayan Island north of Cebu province. At age 24 yrs he is the youngest elected local executive mayor in Cebu in the May 2016 elections. He entered politics at age 21 yrs as barangay chairman in 2013 and was elected president of the Association of Barangay Councils of the municipality.[9]
