This is a list of characters for the manga and anime series The Promised Neverland.

Main characters

Emma (エマ, Ema)
Voiced by: Sumire Morohoshi[1]
Emma is the main character of the series and one of the oldest children living at Grace Field House. Like Ray and Norman, she is 11-years-old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. She is identified by her ID number 63194 and known for her ample optimism as well as her capable athleticism.
Upon discovering the truth of the orphanage, Emma teams up with Norman and Ray to escape the house. Her strong sense of selflessness insists that every one escape together, even if most of their siblings are below 6-years-old, an aim that Ray deems crazy and plain reckless.
Ray (レイ, Rei)
Voiced by: Mariya Ise[1]
Ray is one of the oldest children living at Grace Field House and, like Emma and Norman, is 11-years-old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. He is identified by his ID number 81194 and known for being an avid reader with high intellectual abilities, blunt skepticism and cunning.
Being the only biological child of their caretaker and "Mama" Isabella, he did not experience childhood amnesia, confirming his suspicions about the existence of demons and true nature of the house later when he was 6-years-old. Ray becomes Isabella's spy in exchange for goods and the promise that him, Emma and Norman could live to the fullest of their lives, pledging to use the remaining 6 years of his life to orchestrate a plan that would lead to his two best friends finding out the truth themselves. After a confrontation from Norman, he becomes the children's trump card just as Isabella betrays him. Although initially unwilling to accept Emma's unrealistic goal of escaping with every child, he vows to never give up on them after their escape succeeds.
Norman (ノーマン, Nōman)
Voiced by: Maaya Uchida[1]
Norman is one of the oldest orphans living at Grace Field House and, like Ray and Emma, is 11-years-old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. He is identified by his ID number 22194 and known for being a genius strategist and planner, as well as unbeatable at the game of tag.
He discovers the truth of the orphanage with Emma and teams up with Ray to devise a plan to escape. While he knows leaving with every child in the house is near to impossible, his love for Emma pushes him to continue trying. As the most intelligent out of the three, he is the first to find out Ray's true identity as Isabella's spy and prepare various back-up plans and escape routes. After Ray is betrayed by Isabella, Norman is forced to be shipped before his 12th birthday, accepting his fate of inevitable death to deceive her and let the rest of the children escape.

Grace Field House

Mama/Isabella (イザベラ, Izabera)
Known to the orphanage's children as their "Mama", Isabella is a 31-years-old young woman who takes care of everyone there. Prior to being installed into her current position, she was raised in a similar orphanage and had an ID number of 73584. While appearing extremely loving and affectionate to the children, she actually very manipulative, cunning, and shows much detachment to their tragic fate.
Don (ドン, Don)
Don is the second oldest child living at Grace Field House along with Gilda, and has an ID number of 16194. Unlike the quiet and calm Gilda, he is rowdy, less inclined and talkative. He and Gilda are the second-in-commands behind Emma and Ray during their escape.
Gilda (ギルダ, Giruda)
Gilda is the second oldest child living at Grace Field House along with Don, and has an ID number of 65194. In contrast to the latter's loud and cheerful personality, she is calm, quiet, has high observation and thinking power, but her inner surface has great strength. Together with Emma, they help take care of the younger babies at the house and they are on good terms. She is characterised for wearing rounded glasses.
Phil (フィル, Firu)
Phil is a 4-year-old boy at Grace Field House who is the smartest out of all the younger children. He holds an ID number of 34934 and is very active as well as mature for his age.
Thoma (トーマ, Tōma)
Thoma is a 7-years-old boy with an ID number of 55294 living at Grace Field House. He escaped the house with the rest of his siblings.
Anna (アンナ, An'na)
Anna is a 9-years-old girl with an ID number of 48194 living at Grace Field House. She is characterised by her blonde twin braids which she sacrificed to prevent Ray's death and allow his escape. She escaped the house with the rest of her siblings.
Lani
Lani is 7-years-old boy with an ID number of 54294 living at Grace Field House. He escaped the house with the rest of his siblings.
Krone (クローネ, Kurōne)
Krone also known as "Sister Krone" was a helper in "The Promised Neverland" and helped run the Grace Field House orphanage with Mama Izabella. She would eventually attempt to usurp the position of "Mama", an act which would lead to her death at the hands of Izabella, Grandmother and the Demons. Krone possessed a large and intimidating physique, which coupled with her equally intimidating facial expressions made her seem dominant, though she outwardly often wore a bright, warm smile. She has short dreadlocks and dark skin and black hair and eyes and wears standard Sister uniform. She showed the kids about the stitches in her chest telling them they have a microchip in their hearts. The microchip makes it impossible to leave their farm. Her identification number is 18682.
Krone was an individual who fought for nothing but her own, personal, agenda. She played nice when she had to play nice, scheming and plotting continuously while trusting no one but herself. She fully realized the evil of her own actions, and how the twisted system she was brought up in made her this way, but still carried on nevertheless. Her goal was ultimately just to survive, to be on the "Eat" part of the food chain. She was brought up in an "orphanage" similar to the Grace Field House and performed well enough on the tests to be recommended for Mama-training when she turned 12. Sister Krone and Baby Carol where the first people from outside the orphanage that Emma and Norman knew. Sister Krone tried to prove the escape but was shipped by Sister Izabella's Grandmother.
Conny (コニー, Konī)
She was a little girl with blonde hair and eyes blue. Her hair was tied into two pigtails on the back. She wore the standard clothes from the Grace Field House. She is 6 years old. Height is 115 cm. Her identification number is 48294. She was nice and lovely towards Emma, Don and the other orphans. She always carried her stuffed rabbit Little Bernie around with her. Her intellect level seemed to be average for her age.
She was one at the orphans at the Grace Field House where she lived her life comfortably with all of her siblings around her. Until the day when Izabella told her and the kids that a house with nice parents had been found for her. When she was sent out from the house, Emma and Norman found out that she was being harvested by some kind of Demons. They saw a flower sticking out of her chest, killing her instantly. Emma and Norman called the flower a Demon Flower. Her shipping date is 12th year 2045.
Grandmother (祖母, sobo)
Grandmother is a high ranking human at the Grace Field House, serving as its leader, who considers Izabella as one of her pawns. When Sister Krone told her about the escape plan of Emma, Norman, Ray, Don and Gilda, Grandma told Krone that she would leave it all in the hands of Izabella because she is important to her and above Krone in every aspect. She serves the Demon Boss. She was the one who found out how Izabella was climbing up the wall. It is unclear if Grandmother herself was an orphan or not in the past.

Demons

Musica
Mujika (or Musica) is a demon descent traveling in the forest outside the Grace Field House. She saved Emma and the other orphans of Grace Field House from the pursuing demons. She, together with Sonju believe in a religious principle to not eat humans. Mujika has long, purple hair braided pigtails covering parts of her horns, and wears a mask with two holes positioned vertically. She has a pale complexion and wears a bluish-white cloak. She was introduced in the story as someone who is accommodating and motherly. Musica and Sonju were notified of the "goods" that escaped from Gracefield House. She asked Sonju why he didn't tell the kids about the and what would happen if they would break the Promise. She taught the kids about basic survival knowledge.
Sonju
Sonju (or Sung-Joo) is a demon that lives outside Grace Field House. He saved Ray just before he was captured by his demon-hound pursuers. He and Mujika were suspected to be demons by Ray. Sonju is a relatively tall and lean demon. He wears a hood and a mask that covers his entire face which when taken off, reveals his abnormally sharp canines. He has a horn at the center of his forehead and polydactyly, with six fingers on each hand, which are entirely wrapped with a bandage. Under his hood reveals what seems to be black markings across half of his abdomen, and black pants which is secured with a belt. Sonju is often seen carrying a spear.
Sonju believes in the same religion as Mujika, hence is strongly against the practice of eating humans. However, Sonju remained reluctant and was eager to resume his intention of eating humans once their population increased. Sonju retains a stoic and composed personality, as he sometimes refrained himself from interacting with the orphans, and during the times when he does, he was known to intimidate them due to his appearance. Nevertheless, Sonju on a certain degree still care for the orphans' safety and have faith in them being able to break the promise. He tells Emma and Ray that the world is divided into two, the Human World and the Demon World as made by the promised contract.
