List of Sydney FC players
Sydney FC is an Australian association football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The club was founded in 2004 when the National Soccer League (Australia) was disbanded to form the A-League. The A-League is the premier football competition in Australia. Sydney FC were one of the eight inaugural clubs to participate in the new competition.[1] Sydney FC have won three Championships, which came in 2006, 2010 and 2017. The club has also won the Premiership three times, which is a league record (shared with Melbourne Victory). These came in 2009–10, 2016–17 and 2017–18. Overall the club has only failed to make the finals series four times in thirteen seasons.
Sydney FC have participated five times in continental championships, including four times in the AFC Champions League in 2007, 2011, 2016 and 2018. The club will compete again at the 2019 AFC Champions League.
Sydney FC have also participated in other international competitive fixtures, including the 2008 Pan-Pacific Championships (placing fourth) and the 2005 FIFA Club World Cup (placing fifth).
As of 25 August 2018, 166 players have made a competitive appearance for the club. Of this, 74 players have played 25 or more competitive matches for the club, including ten players appearing in over 100 games. Alex Brosque holds numerous club records for appearances and goal-scoring. He is currently the club's most capped player overall with 238 games and in the A-League with 198 games (including finals series). He holds the record for most goals scored overall with 74 and in the league with 59.
This is a list of players who have played for Sydney FC. It includes players that have played at least 25 matches as either a starting player or a substitute for Sydney FC in any professional competitive match. Professional matches include but are not limited to league, domestic cup and continental cup matches.
Marquee players
- A First Marquee was occasionally referred to as "International Marquee" during the years when one of the two marquees were required to be of Australian nationality.
- B Second Marquee originally introduced as Australian only marquee from 2010–11 to 2014–15 seasons inclusive.
