List of ''One-Punch Man'' characters

The Japanese manga series One-Punch Man contains a number of fictional characters created by One and illustrated by Yusuke Murata. The series follows a superhero named Saitama and his disciple Genos who join the Hero Association so they can be recognized as such when they fight various monsters and villains. The Hero Association ranks all of its members by a Class and a ranking within that class. Characters listed are ones noted by the author in the manga profiles, ones that were highlighted in the anime character list, and ones that recur over several story arcs.

Main characters

Saitama

The title character, Saitama (サイタマ), is a bald-headed 25-year-old man who is bored of fighting because he is effortlessly able to defeat enemies with a single punch.Vol. 1 He lives in an apartment in City Z. Three years prior to the start of the series (back when he had hair), Saitama was applying for jobs as a salaryman, where he defeats a crab-like monster that attempted to kill a child.Ch. 2 Saitama says he became a hero "for the fun of it".Ch. 5 Although he does not possess supernatural abilities, such as flight or energy projection, his strength, speed, stamina, and durability have all been enhanced to an immeasurably high degree, such that no foe thus far in the series has posed a serious threat to him. The origin of Saitama's abilities is left ambiguous; he attributes his abilities to a daily training regimen of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, a 10 km run, eating right, and developing his mental fortitude by not using air conditioning or a heater. However, others in the series have noted that this fairly simplistic training regimen does not account for the sheer magnitude of Saitama's physical traits.Ch. 11

Saitama enters the Hero Association at the lowest C-class tier and rank due to his miserable performance on the written exam and essay, but had broken all the records on the physical portion of the test.Ch. 16 He soon advances from doing superheroic deeds, although many of his efforts are not fully recognized because of collateral damage or because he was working with other higher-tiered superheroes. He does not mind letting others have the credit though, as demonstrated in his actions following the fight against the Deep Sea King.Ch. 27-29 In the Dark Matter Thieves story arc, he is not bothered by the telekinesis user that throws rocks against him, and was one of the times where he has used his "serious punch". He becomes friends with S-Class members Bang and King. His superhero name in the association is Bald Cape (ハゲマント, Hagemanto)Ch. 45. In the dub, his superhero name is translated as “Caped Baldy”.

In the anime, Saitama is voiced by Makoto Furukawa in Japanese,[1] and by Max Mittelman in English.[2]

Genos

Genos (ジェノス, Jenosu) is a 19-year-old cyborg who becomes Saitama's disciple after bearing witness to Saitama's easy victory over Mosquito Girl.Ch. 6-7 Four years prior to the start of the story line, his family was killed by a rampaging cyborg. Genos was nearly killed in the attack and his body was destroyed so, to keep him alive to stop the rampaging cyborg for justice, a scientist named Dr. Kuseno took Genos in and modified his body to make him a cyborg with destructive capabilities. However, Genos remains steadfastly convinced that justice demanded vengeance against and destruction of the cyborg.Ch. 7 His perfect score on the entrance exam for the Hero Association places him in S-Class, but he still considers Saitama to be his master and goes with him whenever he is not summoned to other missions.Vol. 3-4 He lives with Saitama after offering a sizable down payment for his share of the rent.Ch. 18 His superhero name in the Hero Association is Demon Cyborg (鬼サイボーグ, Oni Saibōgu)Ch. 45

In the anime, Genos is voiced by Kaito Ishikawa in Japanese,[1] and by Zach Aguilar in English.[2]

Agoni created the association after his grandson was saved from the monster Crablante by an unknown bystander (who turns out to be Saitama). It is also financed by donations from citizens.Ch. 15 The association is made up of four tiers from the lowest C-Class to the highest S-Class. The heroes within each class are ranked numerically, with the highest rank 1 of each class being eligible to advance to the next tier if they so desire.Vol. 4 New heroes must take an exam in which 50% is a physical test, and the other 50% is a written exam and an essay. A passing grade would be 70% or higher and directly placed in a class from 70% being barely C-class to 100% being eligible for S-class.Ch. 16 They are then placed at the lowest ranking for that tier.Ch. 16 Heroes can ascend or descend in their rankings depending on their deeds; C-Class heroes who are inactive for a week are dropped from the Registry.Vol. 3
