List of Namibia ODI cricketers

Since their first match in 2003, 15 players have represented Namibia in One Day Internationals (ODIs).[1] A One Day International is an international cricket match between two representative teams, each having ODI status, as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC). An ODI differs from Test matches in that the number of overs per team is limited, and that each team has one innings.

Namibia are associate members of the International Cricket Council (ICC).[2] They do not have One Day International status, so their limited overs games are generally categorized as List A rather than One Day Internationals. Namibia qualified for the 2003 Cricket World Cup by getting to the final of the 2001 ICC Trophy. Because Namibia qualified for the World Cup, they also received $500,000 from the ICC to encourage the development of cricket in the country.[3] At the World Cup, Namibia played in six One Day internationals (the ICC granted ODI status to all matches played at this competition). Namibia were defeated in each of their six matches; their best result came in a 55 run loss to England. These are the only ODI matches Namibia have played.[4] After finishing 7th at the 2005 ICC Trophy, Namibia failed to qualify for the 2007 World Cup and were denied the chance to play further ODI matches.[5]

Jan-Berrie Burger has scored the most ODI runs for Namibia (199) and also holds the record for the highest individual score for Namibia, 85 scored against England on 19 February 2003.[6] He is one of two people to have scored a half-century for Namibia, the other person is Daniel Keulder. Rudi van Vuuren has taken the most wickets for Namibian with 8 to his name, and holds the record for best bowling figures for Namibia in an ODI. He took 5/43 against England on 19 February 2003.[7]
