The following is a list of schools that participate in NCAA Division I field hockey, according to NCAA.org.[1] In the most recently completed 2017 season, 78 Division I schools competed.

Conference affiliations are as of the current 2018 NCAA field hockey season.

  4. After the 2018–19 school year, Long Island University will merge the LIU Brooklyn athletic program with the NCAA Division II program of its Post campus, creating a single Division I program that will compete under the LIU name. Both campuses sponsor varsity field hockey.[3]
  5. The unified LIU athletic program will adopt a new nickname that will be selected by alumni and students of the Brooklyn and Post campuses.[3]
  6. The unified LIU field hockey team will inherit LIU Brooklyn's current membership in the Northeast Conference.
  7. LIU has announced that the unified field hockey team will play home games at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on the Post campus.[3]
  8. Monmouth field hockey will not move to the Northeast Conference with the rest of the MAAC's field hockey programs, instead joining the America East Conference in 2019.
  9. Sacred Heart plays its home games at Yale's field hockey venue.
