My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. The manga was adapted into an anime television series produced by Bones. Adapting the plot from chapter 1 to 21 of the original manga, the first season aired from April 3 to June 26, 2016,[1] on TBS, MBS and other JNN stations in 'Nichigo' timeslot at 5pm on Sundays in Japan. The opening theme is "The Day", performed by Porno Graffitti and the ending theme is "Heroes", performed by Brian the Sun.[2]
Adult Swim's Toonami block premiered the series on May 5, 2018.[3]

Home video release
Japan
Toho released the series on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan on five volumes, with the first volume being released on June 29, 2016, and the last volume being released on October 12, 2016.[5]

The series was released in North America by Funimation, who released a limited edition combo set and a standard combo set on April 18, 2017.[11] Funimation also released the series through Universal Pictures UK in the United Kingdom and Ireland,[12] and through Universal Sony in Australia and New Zealand,[13] where it received a limited edition combo release in both regions. Universal Sony later released standard editions of the DVD and Blu-ray in Australia and New Zealand on August 15, 2018.[14]
