Liquefied natural gas terminal
Liquefied natural gas terminal is a structure for liquefied natural gas to store. It can comprise special tanks, ships or even building structures. Port infrastructures and pipelines are also a part of LNG terminals.[1]
Liquefied natural gas is the form used to transport natural gas over long distances, often by sea. In most cases, LNG terminals are purpose-built ports used exclusively to export or import LNG.
Types
Liquefied natural gas terminals can be divided into two types: liquefaction terminals (export)[2] and regasification terminalsRU or receiving terminals (import).[3]
FSRU
A floating storage and regasification unit, or FSRU for short, is an LNG terminal whose main structure is a special ship that is moored next to the port. As of January 2014 there are operating FSRUs in Brazil, Argentina, Kuwait, Israel, the UAE, Italy, Indonesia, China and Lithuania.[4]
