Lindsey Fitzharris

Dr. Lindsey Fitzharris is an author and medical historian. She is the creator of the popular blog, The Chirurgeon's Apprentice and the host of the YouTube video series Under the Knife.

Career

Fitzharris received a Ph.D. in the History of Science, Medicine & Technology from the University of Oxford in 2009.[1] Her blog The Chirurgeon's Apprentice examines surgical history and pre-modern medical history. It has attracted 2 million readers.[2]

In 2017, she published The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister's Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine, a biography of surgical pioneer Joseph Lister.[3] The book won the PEN/E. O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award,[4] and was named an American Library Association Notable Nonfiction book for 2018.[5]
