Life After Manson is a 2014 documentary film directed by Olivia Klaus, and is based on the story of one of Charles Manson's family member Patricia Krenwinkel, who was involved in the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. In the documentary Krenwinkel discusses her childhood, her life with the family, and her life in prison.

Production and critical reception

The film premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and went on to screen at film festivals across the globe, including Best Film and Best Editing at the 2014 DOCUTAH Film Festival. The New York Times called the film "an emotional account of her life from prison."[1] Gawker stated, "Krenwinkel's assessment of her situation is insightful"[2] and The Independent stated the film was "the conclusion to the social and cultural upheavals of the 1960s"[3] and Jezebel's insight was "The entire experience and her time in prison have taught her about the concept of choice.".[4]

The film was picked up by the New York Times OpDoc Series and premiered an excerpt, My Life After Manson, during the week of the 45th anniversary of the Manson Family crimes. The clip went viral, making global headlines. The film is being distributed by Women Make Movies for educational sales and Network Ireland Television for international sales. This documentary is a production of Quiet Little Place Productions.

Synopsis

The film consists of an exclusive interview with and previously unpublished footage of Patricia Krenwinkel.

According to the producers, "'Life After Manson' offers a character study that reveals a broken woman struggling with her past and her effort to evaluate the cost of her choices."
