Eponym Russian masculine name

Lev is a tiny lunar craterlet located in the southeast part of the Mare Crisium in the east of the lunar near side. The crater is located southeast of nearby larger Fahrenheit. It is also in between that crater and Dorsa Harker, a wrinkly ridge. Further southeast is Mons Usov.

The crater is named after the Russian form of the Hebrew masculine name and was approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) on March 29, 2012.[1]

Presently Lev is the smallest named lunar craterlet with the diameter of only 60 meters, its depth is in the range of 10 meters.

Northwest of the craterlet was the Luna 24 landing site.
