Leo Edmund Scherman (born April 2, 1975) is an award-winning Canadian director, writer, producer and actor. He is best known as the co-creator of the television series Cock'd Gunns (2007)[1] and the co-writer and director of the feature film Trench 11 (2017)[2].

Personal Life

Scherman was born in London, England to Canadian artist Tony Scherman and British artist Margaret Priest. His grandfather is Canadian conductor and violinist Paul Scherman and his father-in-law is deep sea explorer Dr. Joe MacInnis.

In 1997, he graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a degree in Cultural Studies.

Career

Leo Scherman trained under Paul Schrader[3] and David Cronenberg[4] and has written and directed three feature films: White Knuckles, Never Forget, and WW1-horror Trench 11. Creator and performer for the Canadian Screen Award-winning television series Cock'd Gunns[5], Scherman directed two seasons of Scare Tactics[6], has written and directed for NBC[7], SyFy, Vice[8], History, Discovery and National Geographic, and directed commercials for clients such as Expedia, Gatorade and McDonald’s.
