Lee Freeman is the current chief constable of Humberside Police. He was acting chief constable for a short period after the previous chief constable, Justine Curran, stepped down. Freeman was promoted into the job officially in June 2017.

Career

Freeman joined the City of London Police in 1993,[1] transferring to Lincolnshire Police in 1996.[2] Freeman was promoted to assistant chief constable of Humberside Police in 2015 from Lincolnshire, where he had been working previously.[3] He was given acting chief constable rank in February 2017 after the previous chief constable, Justine Curran, retired early when she was advised to consider her position by the Police and crime commissioner for the Humberside area, Keith Hunter.[4][5] Freeman assumed command and was duly promoted into the rank of chief constable in June 2017.[6]

Personal life

Freeman was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. He is married with one son.[7] Before joining the police he attended Kingston University where he studied sociology.[2]
