"Leave Me Alone" is a song performed and written by Norwegian singer–songwriter Alexander Rybak. It was released as a digital download in Norway on 12 October 2012, and charted in Belgium.

Background

Talking about the song Alexander Rybak said: "I needed a new single for Eastern Europe and as I wrote the song, I grew fond of the melody and the story – so I decided to share it with all of you in English. It's a true story of a woman who traveled around the world to babysit by my doorstep, sent me 600 emails, and always seems to find my new (secret!) phone number. I have to give her credit for her hard work in finding me wherever I am. I am a lucky man to even experience this, it's something you normally only see in a movie. I got so inspired, that I had to write a song about it. I wanted the song to be a huge pop-anthem and luckily I got the perfect man for the job; David Eriksen has a heart for pop music and he creates magic in his studio. So – here we are. I hope you like it. I think I wanna dance"[1]

Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "Leave Me Alone" was first released onto YouTube on 23 October 2012 at a total length of three minutes and thirty-five seconds. The video was directed by Alexander Filatovich.[2][3]

The start of the video has Rybak running through a street, stopping at the doors of the asylum during a thunderstorm, as the doors open he states that "he wants to be admitted" as a crazy girl has been following him, then Alexander admits himself into the asylum as the orderlies then grab him, he's placed into a straight-jacket and placed in a rundown corridor as he then is shown playing is violin with the inmates seeing what's going on, only for the orderlies to place him into his room and onto the bed. He then starts at the beginning as he says he regrets answering a phone call he got from his stalker saying "she got his number from one of his dancers" claiming she has something of his as she waited outside. Thinking he's safe within the asylum he wanders the halls he talks about how the encounter got into something troubling and twisted as he realised on how his stalker was around him as she travelled around following him terrorising him, as he walks it turns out his stalker who dressed in a blue dress has found him and is within the asylum as the other inmates are about the asylum and leaving their rooms. Then we have Alex and the inmates dancing with the corridor as the inmates and Rybak are sent back in some fear from the stalker as she smiles and writing hearts with "A R" on the walls telling his stalker to think it over and to leave him alone. As we then have shots of Rybak playing his violin with the inmates dancing inside a lounge room, with the stalker holding a teddy bear now as she watches him perform.

We then see Alex sitting by the lounge tv that's showing static as he states that his stalker's actions have become a bit much, scarring his family and his girlfriend as she waits by door in the early morning, then following him at night, which is poisonous to his life as he sees her sitting next to him as he demands for her to tell him why she's doing it. As we then go Alex singing with his inmates dancing, Saying her actions have been scaring him and it's not funny at all. We then have the stalker then amongst the insane asylum inmates as she passes out within their arms dropping the teddy bear she has been holding pulling her around, as Alex removes his straight-jacket we see that the stalker now is wearing the same straight-jacket Alex wore while she's being pushed and shoved by the inmates, while the chorus plays featuring Alex and the inmates dancing, as the final shots show the stalker's tied up as she gives an evil smile, Alexander picking the teddy bear up and placing it on a stool with Alexander wearing the clothes from the start of the video fixing his jacket up as the stalker watches him leave as Alexander then leaves the asylum for good leaving the stalker where she belongs within the asylum.
