Lat-Lon provides Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking and monitoring solutions to the transportation industry. They specialize in solar-powered devices that can be installed on both powered and non-powered assets to monitor condition and location, among other variables.

Lat-Lon was founded in 1999 by Dave Baker and Steve Tautz. Originally, Lat-Lon was a privately held limited liability company owned by its founders and Tegra Corp of Sioux City, IA. On June 1, 2014, the company was purchased by BSM Technologies U.S. Holdings, Inc. The company resides in Denver, Colorado and is managed By David Baker and Steve Tautz.

Lat-Lon's units are deployed world wide on railcars, semi-trailers, shipping containers, locomotives, delivery vehicles, heavy equipment, and barges. Shippers, manufacturers, and asset owners use the location and monitoring data to improve utilization, productivity, reduce maintenance, increase security, and improve customer support. Managers can quickly get answers to their logistics questions by running reports or viewing maps on the website. Data can also be passed directly to corporate fleet management computer systems for a complete integrated system with all lading information. Lat-Lon has several patents[1][2][3][4][5] for its unique, self-contained, solar powered, GPS tracking and monitoring units. Lat-Lon units collect data from intelligent wireless sensing and this information is communicated through cellular (GPRS), radio, or satellite modem to Lat-Lon for further processing. Customers can access real-time data using Lat-Lon's web-based fleet management reporting and mapping tools.
