Larry James Taylor Junior (born October 3, 1980) is a Brazilian-American professional basketball player. He is married to Erika Nicole Taylor, a Kansas City, Missouri activist and philanthropist. Larry became naturalized Brazilian citizen in 2012.[3]
Professional career
Larry first came to Brazil in 2008 to play for Bauru Basket. At the São Paulo State's team, he became one of the most important players in Brazil, helping the team to win major trophies like the FIBA Americas League (the South American version of the Euroleague) and to reach the NBB finals, becoming a local idol. He also played the 2015 FIBA Intercontinental Cup with Bauru when they lost the finals to the European champions Real Madrid.
At Bauru, he received the nickname "Alien" because of his skills with the ball.
In 2012 he received the Brazilian nationality, been able to represent the Brazil national basketball team at international level. With the Brazilian squad, he played the 2012 Olympics.
After 7 years with Bauru, Taylor joined Mogi of the Brazilian League. At his first game back in Bauru, his former team retired his number 4 jersey.[4]
Brazilian national team
Taylor played with the senior men's Brazilian National Basketball Team at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games, the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship, and the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
In 2015 he won the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
He was left out of the final list to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
