The Lankan Premier League (LPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Sri Lanka will be contested every year by teams representing Sri Lankan cities since 2019. The league was founded by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in 2018.[1] Veterant cricketer Russel Arnold was named as the director of Lankan Premier League.[2]

History

Background

Originally, 2018 was going to be the first season of the Lankan Premier League (LPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in 2018. The season, which was supposed to be held from 18 August to 10 September 2018,[3][4][5] but later postponed to possibly next year.[6][7]
