Land of the Leopard (Russian: национа́льный парк «Земля́ леопа́рда») is a 262,000-hectare (650,000-acre) national park in Primorsky Krai, Russia.[1] It was established in April 2012 to prevent the extinction of the Amur leopard which was at the time the world's rarest cat with an estimated population of 30.[2] The park was created from the merger of Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve , Barsovy Federal Wildlife Refuge, Borisovkoye Plateau Regional Wildlife Refuge, and a new territory along the border with China. Amur leopards are still at risk of extinction but their numbers are increasing, with 2018 reports estimating 103 remaining between Russia and China.[3] The park covers about 60% of their habitat area.[1]
