Lalu Alex, is a popular Indian film actor who works in Malayalam cinema. In a career spanning four decades, Lalu Alex has acted over 250 movies and is popular for his character roles, comic roles and antagonistic roles in Malayalam movie industry.

Lalu Alex started his acting career as a supporting actor in the movie Ee Ganam Marakkumo in 1978 and associated with notable movies in his earlier career including Idi Muzhakkam and Nayattu directed by Sreekumaran Thampi, Meen (starring Jayan), Thushaaram and Thrishna (Screenplay by MT Vasudevan Nair and starring Mammootty) directed by IV Sasi . He has also acted in three Tamil Movies.

Career

Started the career in the movie "Ee Gaanam Marakkumo" in 1978 he was fortunate to work with I. V. Sasi's significant films such as Thrishna, Thusharam, and Ahimsa. His outstanding performance was in Geo movies production, I.V.Sasi directed Ee Nadu , Lalu Alex played a significant role as SP Alexander.[8] After that he had acted in villainous-character roles in films like I.V.Sasi's Kanamarayath, Alkootathil Thaniye, John Jaffer Janardhanan, Mrugaya and Balachandra Menon's Karyam Nissaram, and Prasnam Gurutharam. Joshiy was another director who had given him roles in films like Aa Ratri, Bhookambam, Alakadalin Akkare, Minimol Vathikanil, Muhurtham 11.30, Nair Saab etc. He has worked with directors such as K. Madhu in Adikkurippu, Chathuangam, and the ferocious role as Charles in Munnam Mura, Sathyan Anthikkad in Kalikkalam Oral Mathram, and Kamal in Manjupole Oru Penkutty and Niram. In the 1990s, he turned to comic roles.

Alex's use of comedy, unique dialogue, delivery, and performance skill has rendered him as a notable figure in the industry.[9] His roles as a police officer, as a Kottayam-based businessman, and as a priest in many movies have been impressive.[10] Lalu Alex and Kunchako Boban form a popular father-son duo. Their combination as father and son respectively in such films as Niram and Mummy & Me are unforgettable.[11]

Lalu Alex is born as second among three children to Alex and Lisy at Piravom, Muvattupuzha Taluk. He has an elder brother, Samuel and a younger sister, Susan.[12] Lalu Alex is married to Betty since 1986.[13] They have three children named Ben Lalu Alex, Sen Lalu Alex and Ciya Lalu Alex. Ben has acted in a Malayalam movie Orkut Oru Ormakoot.[14][15]
