L. Roger Mason Jr. is a former Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Systems and Resource Analyses (May 2009 – January 2014).

Mason was appointed the first Associate Director of National Intelligence for Systems and Resource Analyses (ADNI/SRA) in May 2009. In this capacity, he serves as the DNI's principal staff advisor on matters pertaining to systems analyses, cost analyses and program evaluation. The ADNI(SRA) is responsible for framing major resource decisions and managing the process by which the DNI determines the National Intelligence Program (NIP).[1]

Prior to his ODNI appointment, Mason served in a number of senior executive leadership positions in the defense-intelligence field. These included advanced systems development, sensor integration, technology development and intelligence-military operations.

Mason holds PhD and MS degrees in Engineering Physics (Nuclear) from the University of Virginia,[2] an MBA from Northwestern University (Kellogg), and a BS in Physics from The George Washington University. He served as the UVA Honor Committee Chairman and has received numerous academic awards including Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Nu Sigma National Honor Societies.

He is a recipient of the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal and led SRA to be recognized with 4 National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Awards.
