Kunnathur is a panchayat town in Tirupur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was previously under the jurisdiction of the Erode district.

Kunnathur is a place of Compressor and Borewells. Now mounting of Borewell Rigs has grown in another level by the hard work of the people like S.V.K Industries and Balaji Compressors and S.S.K Trading Company are the stores who are in the industry for many years and there are many Spare Parts Store

Demographics

In the 2001 India census,[1] Kunnathur had a population of 7031. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Kunnathur has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 64%. In Kunnathur, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Kunnathur is home to a historic Lakshmi Narayanan Temple built by Cheras during the 12th century. Other notable places of worship include the Akilandeshwarar temple, Aranmanai Mariamman temple, Vijaya Ganapathi build by M.K.Natrajan , Kunnathur Sivan Temple, Lakshmi Narayana Temple, Perumal temple, Hanuman temple or Anjaneyar Temple in Poolangulam Built by M.N.Karupana Gounder in the 20th Century , Amman temple and the Sangu Mariamman temple and Arulmigu Thandu Mariamman Temple at Santhayapalayam. The Ponkali Amman temple, which is common between 54 villages including Kunnathur , is noted for its annual Chariot Festival. Kundrai Aatheenam Sri la Sri Jambugeswara Swamigal who is called as Sri Rishyasingar offering blessings to the devotee and pray for the welfare of the Human kind.

All the buses from Gobichettipalaym to Coimbatore Pass via Kunnathur and have a 1-minute halt. Every 15–20 minutes there is a bus. Or one can come to Perumanallur and take the buses coming from Salem to Coimbatore. The buses from Tirupur to Erode pass via Kunnathur and have a 1-minute halt. Every 3 hours there is a bus.
