Around the movie

The film, produced by Kovai Chezhiyan, had musical score by M. S. Viswanathan and was released on Republic day of 1971, became super hit at box-office.

The second production of Kay Cee Films, with MGR, was UZHAIKKUM KARANGAL, in 1976.

This was the last movie for N.S.Nadarajan who usually acted as Kundumani's friend in MGR's movies for a long time.

KUMARI KOTTAM was the tenth realization of the director Pa.Neelakandhan for a movie of MGR.

At the beginning of the movie, MGR carries a small beard which disappears very fast (she reminds that of another MGR 's movie, THANIPPIRAVI). We see her for last time in the song, "Adi Maddhalam Kotti...", while MGR studies in the garden under a lamppost and while Jayalalidha and his friends make noise of her balcony. The new MGR, without beard, appears to the 37 minutes of the movie, during the competition of disguise.

The character of Jayalalidha, Kumari looks like the one that she holds in another MGR, Rani Chidhambaram Pilai from KANAVAN, in 1968.

Jayalalidha holds two roles in KUMARI KOTTAM.
