Kuldeep Singh Sengar is a fourth term MLA who has been accused of rape.[1] He is main accused of Unnao gang rape and murder case[2] and booked under POCSO Act.[3]

Political career

In 2002, he was a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate, winning the election from Unnao Sadar, it was the first time BSP won that seat since independence. Later he joined Samajwadi party, and won from Bhagwant Nagar in 2012. He joined Bhartiya Janata Party in 2017 to contest the legislative election and won from Bangarmau.[4]

Rape charge & arrest

Sengar allegedly raped a 17 year old teen in Unnao, who approached him asking for a job on 4 June 2017. On 13 April 2018, he was taken in by the Central Bureau of Investigation for questioning.[5][6] Later in the day, he was arrested on orders given by suo moto cognizance taken by the Allahabad High Court. First Information Reports were lodged and sent for a week in judicial custody.[7][8][9] The CBI have corroborated the survivor's charge of rape.[10] He has been booked under 4 sections of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.[3]

The court has given 20th July as the next hearing date in this case.
