Kulam is a 1997 Indian Malayalam film, directed by Lenin Rajendran loosely based on historical novel Marthandavarma by C. V. Raman Pillai. Synopsis(genere : Drama) An oath is undertaken by etu veetil pilamaru that they never withdraw from their decision. Now Thampi enters and confirm that they all are together to kill Marthandavarma. Thampi is attracted to Subadra, who is very beautiful. Subadra is step daughter to thilakan. Thilakan killed Subadras mother for marrying other caste person. Thilakan wife meena wants Thampi to destroy Subadra life by opening the door of Subadra room to Thampi.Subadra escape from Thampis one such rape attempt. Vijayaragavan enters the etuveetil house as fighter. Subadra falls in love with Vijayaragavan and finally marries. Vijayaragavan get promoted as Senanayakan. But Thampi attack Vijayaragavan who finally runs away for life. Now Subadra wants to find out Vijayaragavan. Here enters Suresh Gopi as a psycho but physically strong man whom etu veetil soldiers could not catch. Subadra ask Suresh Gopi to help her find out Vijayaragavan. Subadra now attracts Jagathy and gives alcohol. Jagathy tells their plan of killing Marthandavarma near Palace by surrounding the Palace. Subadra tells the plan to Suresh.subadra finally finds out Vijayaragavan in a Muslim nomad tent. Inside the tent Vijayaragavan is working with his wife finally crying when Subadra tells she dreamt of child and so much happiness while marrying Vijayaragavan. Subadra leaves back to her place. Now scene shifts to a post battle field area where many people lie dead and Thampi walk in the middle seeing his men dead. Thampi meet Thilakan at Thilakan area and say either he come back victorious or dead and leaves the area (film does not show what happened to Thampi later). Etuveetil house Thilakan asks every one who leaked their plans. Jagathy tells he told to Subadra. Thilakan gets angry finally hearing Thampi going for his last strike die or return victorious. Thilakan knocks Subadra room and when Subadra come out, Thilakan stabs Subadra. Thilakan asks why she leaked.Subadra tells she came to know that it was Thampi who destroyed her life so she revenged. And that she now knew who her father is,whom Thilakan never told who her father is .her father is the senapadhi of the kingdom. By this time outside people shouting noises heard. Thilakan goes with sword telling till his life is there he won't allow anyone to touch anybody of etuveetil area. Now scene shows Suresh enters Subadra room and Subadra tells she wanted to see Suresh real face, that he is the son of her father whom she never seen,and Subadra dies while lying on the hands of Suresh .The film stars Suresh Gopi, Bhanupriya, Vijayaraghavan and Jagathy Sreekumar in lead roles. The film had songs composed by MG Radhakrishnan.[1][2][3][4]
