Knecht

Knecht, in German, means in general a male servant and can refer to a servant of a sovereignty, such as a mercenary foot soldier (see Landsknecht) or the classic farm servant (Bauernknecht); the female equivalent in old German is "Magd" (Maid).[1] Dutch uses the word in the same fashion.
