Henry Agincourt Allen, better known as King Henry, is an American record producer and DJ born in Santa Monica, California.[1] He moved to Corrales, New Mexico in 1992, at age three. He attended Chapman University in Orange, California where he studied and practiced music. This began his musical journey which spiraled into his career as a notable producer and DJ.[2]

After this time, he moved to Los Angeles where he began being noticed for his productions, landing him an internship in the studio with electronic tycoon Diplo. This exposure gave him the chance to grow as a songwriter and producer for the artist.[3]

He now writes and produces alongside Diplo and is involved in most (if not all) of his projects today, including solo releases such as those by Major Lazer and productions for other artists like Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Charli XCX, Mark Ronson, The Weeknd, Desiigner, Madison Beer, Sting, Kiesza, and many more.[4]

Early life

At age 18, King Henry's studies in classical guitar would lead to the genesis of his career as a music producer. Initially, he didn't think that his music would be focused on the mainstream sound. In fact, he admitted "I really wasn't super interested in making 'pop' music at all", but after his first few success stories including co-writing and co-producing Major Lazer's chart topper "Cold Water" and receiving a Grammy Nomination for "All Night" from Beyoncé's renown album Lemonade, his mind was changed about the pop world.

Career

Son of Parents Bill Allen and Melissa Hill, the young electronic abstract producer has come a long way. His highly anticipated EP Don't Stay Away features vocals from artists like NAATIONS, SEMMA, and Emmi. There will also be accompanying music videos filmed in New Mexico as an homage to Henry's past. The first single on the EP will be to be taken from "Gold Dust", which has already hit the top viral charts on Spotify in the U.S., U.K., and globally.[5] The track currently has over 1.3M streams on Spotify alone. With an already impressive resume at such a young age, the artist who originally began creating mainly hip-hop beats and weird samples from international worlds, the producer has ventured on into the lanes of musical popularity and expertise.

King Henry released his debut artist EP “Don’t Stay Away” in late 2016 on Black Butter worldwide and his own Duke City in North America. Featuring vocals from NAATIONS, SEMMA, Bloodboy, and Emmi, the EP has garnered over 4 million streams to date. His followup “For You EP” was released late 2017 also on Black Butter and Duke City, featuring Sasha Sloan, Rhye, RY X, and Maejor, and has already earned over 11 million streams. The end of 2017 saw King Henry performing his first-ever live shows supporting Rufus Du Sol.

Awards and nominations

The artist was nominated for a Grammy in 2016 for Beyoncé's track "All Night", which comes off of her award winning album Lemonade.[6]
