Killian Hayes (born 27 July 2001) is an American-born French professional basketball player for Cholet Basket of the LNB Pro A. Standing at 195 cm (6 ft 5 in), Hayes plays as shooting guard.

Career

Hayes started his career in the youth setup at Cholet Basket.[1] In April 2017, he received Jordan Brand Classic International Game Co-MVP honors[2] after scoring 13 points to go along with seven assists, five steals and five rebounds.[3]

He made his debut for Cholet in the French top flight LNB Pro A at age 16 on 21 October 2017 against Nanterre 92.[4]

International career

While playing with France U-16, Hayes was named Most Valuable Player of the 2017 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship[5] after averaging 16.6 points, 7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.[6] en route to a gold medal.[7]

Hayes was named to the All-Tournament Team for the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup, in which he averaged 16.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.7 steals per game.[8]

Personal life

He is the son of a French mother (Sandrine) and American DeRon Hayes,[9] who played college basketball at Pennsylvania State University, before embarking on a professional career which took him to France.[10] He studied at Renaudeau High School in Cholet in 2016-2017.
