Kidnapped is a 1917 silent film directed by Alan Crosland for Edison Studios. It was based on the novel Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson. The film only included selected parts of the story, and reinforced the then-developing romanticisation of the Scottish Highlands.[1] [2]

Previously thought lost, a copy of the film is preserved in the Library of Congress collection.[3]

On November 6, 2017, silent film blogger Fritzi Kramer, film editor Christopher Bird, and film accompanist/composer Ben Model launched a crowdfunded effort to put the film on DVD[4] using the 16mm copy that the Library of Congress has.
