KidRex is a child-safe search engine powered by Google Custom Search. The site utilizes Google SafeSearch and maintains its own database of inappropriate websites and keywords.[1][2] The site has a colorful hand-drawn crayon and colored marker design. Time magazine put KidRex on its list of the top 50 websites of 2013 and compared it to Google.[3]
Controversy
In 2018, doubt was cast over KidRex's "child-safe" claims, when a security researcher was able to use the search engine to return adult-orientated search results.[4]
