Ki McPhail (born 25 September 1987), commonly known as Ki Fitzgerald or KiFi, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and music producer based in London and Los Angeles he has written and produced several top 10 singles [2] and was a member of the English pop rock band Busted from 2000 to 2001.

Early life

Ki was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands to British parents on 25 September 1987, but moved at 6 years old and grew up in Kent, England. His father is the singer Scott Fitzgerald, who had and international hit with "If I Had Words" which was also the theme to the Hollywood Movie Babe. He also performed the song "Go" that represented the United Kingdom at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest where he lost to Celine Dion by one point. In the year 2000, Ki Fitzgerald assembled and was a member of UK group Busted.

Career

Fitzgerald later formed the band Eyes Wide Open and signed a publishing deal with Music Copyright Solutions.[3] The band toured the UK after making their debut at the GWR Fiesta to an audience of 40,000 people. They later played multiple shows including Supporting Blondie at London’s famous Venue Koko. The band members consisted of: Ki (vocals and guitar), Tom Warner (lead guitar), TK (bass guitar) and Pat Garvery (drums) and Will Farquarson (Guitar) who went on to become a member of Band Bastille. The band made many appearances at festivals performing tracks "Bitter Sweet" and "By Your Side" receiving praise from BBC Radio Kent who said that Eyes Wide Open's "songs and production are really strong" and were considered to be "far more the real Ki...than his original Busted material".[4] The band broke up whilst in the process of recording their debut album with producer Steve Lironi (Bon Jovi) and Grammy award-winning mixer Simon Gogerly.[5]

In 2014 he signed an artist deal with producer RedOne and his label 2101/capital records to develop his own album. The first release with Dutch DJ duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano was the song Come Follow with vocals from KiFi. Released through Spinnin' Records 13 February 2015. Fitzgerald has been featured on more tracks, including the single "Shine a Light" by Hardwell and Wildstylez, the Headhunterz single called "Live Before We Die" which was featured on Ellen DeGeneres,Dancing with the Stars and many more.

Songwriting and music production

In October 2011, Fitzgerald signed with Global Talent Publishing to focus on songwriting for other artists. Since then, Fitzgerald has fast become a successful songwriter and producer for a diverse group of artists such as Galantis, Lawson, The Wanted, Jonas Brothers, B.o.B, Alex Hepburn, and Pitbull.

He is credited with having written several songs on the debut album from the UK band Lawson, including the singles "When She Was Mine" (UK No.4) "Standing in the Dark" (UK No.6) and their recent Collaboration with USA Rapper B.o.B on "Broken Hearted" (Uk No.6). Fitzgerald also contributed to the album tracks "Stolen" and "Everywhere You Go", "Die for You", "Getting Nowhere", "Hurts Like You", "Are You Ready", and "Back to Life", which featured on Lawson's top 10 debut album Chapman Square and "Chapman Square – Special Edition (Chapter II).

Fitzgerald wrote the New single from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Wiz Khalifa When I grow Up. He also collaborated on the new single from Sweater Beats and Icona Pop, Faded.

He co-wrote and co produced the Singles ''Hunter'' for Galantis with over a 110 million Spotify streams to date and Madcon's Got a little drunk..

Boy band The Wanted 3rd studio album, including songs "Summer Alive" and "Heart Break Story", the debut single by Sophia Del Carmen ft Pitbull "Lipstick" Capital/Redone. Co-Wrote 1st/2nd single "Roads" and ''Money'' from UK band Lawson's highly anticipated follow-up album Perspective, which Fitzgerald Co-Wrote 11 songs and released June 2016, co-wrote and co-produced "Obsession", the second single by artist Tich Universal music,

He has recently been working with artists such as: Galantis, Madcon, Tinie Tempah, Craig David, Steve James, Sigma, Whiz Khalifa, Bobii Lewis, Martin Jensen, Bakermat, Hardwell, Lost Frequencies, Andy Brown, Fleur East, DFA. Fitzgerald is managed by Mike Sault at Saulty Management.

He co-wrote Monsters for Saara Aalto for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, where she represented Finland.
