Khurshid Alam

Khurshid Alam is a Bangladeshi playback singer. He was conferred Lifetime Achievement Award at 12th Channel i Music Awards (2017) for his lifetime cntribution to Bangladeshi film music. He was born in Joypurhat and his childhood time passed mostly in old town dhaka.[1]

Career

In the national level competitions of Pakistan Education Week in 1961–62 in the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), Alam had won the first prize in Rabindra Sangeet, and was keenly looking forward to making his career as a 'Rabindra Singer'. In 1965, Rabindra Sangeet was banned from the radio, so he decided to audition for adhunik (modern) song. He rose to prominence with that genre. He established himself to the league of golden era singers like Syed Abdul HadI, Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, Khondokar Faruq Ahmed, Mahmudun Nabi, Abdul Jabbar, Ferdousi Rahman, Sabina Yasmin and Shahnaz Rahmatullah. He hhas done playback in 300 songs under the baton of veteran composers such as Subal Das, Ali Hossain, Azad Rahman, Alauddin Ali, Alam Khan, Robin Ghosh and Satya Shaha.[2]
