Kevin Bell AM is a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria, in the Australian state of Victoria since February 2005.[1] Since February 2008, he has served as the President of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).[2] Prior to this he had worked as a Queen's Counsel for eight years and a barrister for 20 years.
On 19 February 2008, Victorian Attorney-General Rob Hulls announced that Bell would replace Justice Stuart Morris as the Head of VCAT. He was appointed for a two-year term. He is to carry out a review of VCAT to determine what reforms, if any, are necessary.
Bell was also elected as a Councillor of the City of Essendon, where he was active in establishing the Essendon Community Legal Centre. Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with honours from Monash University.[3]
In 2017 Justice Bell was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the law and to the judiciary, to native title and human rights, and to the community.[4]
