Kelly Mac

Kelly Mac is the Midday Show Host & Music Director for V101.9 WBAV[1] in Charlotte, NC. She joined the team in July 2017. The Kelly Mac Show[2] can also be heard in the "Upstate" of South Carolina on 96.3 in Greenville & 104.5 in Spartanburg.

Mac previously served as the Program Director and Afternoon Show Host for 106.7 WTLC-FM and also Program Director for 1310 The Light WTLC-AM.

Her career includes an APD & On Air role at Greenville, SC’s legendary urban radio station 107.3 JAMZ WJMZ where she was a top rated multi award winning talent from 2006-2011 and again for a 2nd run from 2013-2016. Kelly also worked in Chicago, where she served as the midday host at WVAZ & APD for WGCI. Prior to Chicago, Kelly was a radio personality and Assistant Program Director/Music Director in Philadelphia at WUSL and WDAS-FM from 2011 to 2013.

In 2010, Kelly was honored by the National Association of Broadcasters with the Marconi award for Radio Personality of the Year.

Career

In 1999, Mac started off in radio as a part-time receptionist for Radio One, Inc. With time and hard work, she was later promoted to programming assistant for WZAK-FM and WENZ-FM in her hometown, Cleveland, Ohio. Her diligent work, dedication and perseverance eventually led to her dream job to become an on-air personality.

Mac later relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, as the Assistant Program Director, Music Director and Afternoon show host for WWBZ. After a year, WWBZ changed formats, so in May 2004 Mac joined Charleston's legendary station WWWZ-FM as the night show host, where, after 2 books, she achieved record Arbitron Ratings of 30+ shares in her targeted demo (18–34).

After spending two years in the Charleston, South Carolina Market, Mac moved to the Gulf Coast to co-host mornings at WBLX-FM in Mobile, Alabama. While co-hosting "The Official Gulf-Coast Wake-Up Party," Mac was a key factor in maintaining #1 ratings for the show

During her successful run at WBLX-FM, Mac was recruited to WJMZ-FM, Greenville, South Carolina, where she served as APD/MD/on-air personality for nearly five years. Mac set record numbers at WJMZ and received many prestigious awards.

In 2007 WJMZ was awarded the R&R Medium Market Station of the Year, and in 2008 Mac was named the R&R "Medium Market On Air Personality of the Year." In 2009, JAMZ was awarded the NAB Marconi Award for "Urban Station of the Year" and the South Carolina Broadcasters Association recognized Mac as South Carolina's "On Air Personality of the Year" and "Radio Show of the Year." In September 201 the NAB named Mac as the Marconi Recipient for "Medium Market On Air Personality" of the year.

During her second tenure at WJMZ, Mac was awarded the SCBA "Radio Show of the Year" in 2014, and she has been featured in various local and regional publications like Parents, LINK Magazine and The Greenville News, to name a few.

Kelly's top three favorite interviews were with Mary J. Blige, Michelle Obama and her most favorite was a sit down with President Obama. Her long-term goal is to host a TV show and also open up a group home for at risk youth. She enjoys family time, traveling, cooking, swimming, shooting pool and a variety of music. She also takes pride in helping out in the community and she's an advocate for speaking to teens about pregnancy prevention and the importance of staying in school.
