Kelly Arnold is the elected Sedgwick County clerk. Since January 2013, he is the chairman of the Kansas Republican Party.

Early life and education

Kelly Arnold was born and raised in McPherson, Kansas.[1] After he graduated from McPherson High School, he earned bachelor degrees in Business Management as well as Finance from Tabor College in Hillsboro.[2] He later graduated from Wichita State University's Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs as Certified Master County Clerk.[1]

Career

Arnold worked in the finance industry before being elected clerk of Segdwick County in 2008. In 2016, he was reelected with 100% of the votes.[3] He is responsible for private and commercial filings.[4] He is a member of the Executive Committee for South Central Kansas of the County Clerks & Election Officials.[1]

Arnold is Vice Chairman of the board of trustees of the Kansas Public Employee Retirement and a member of the Board of Directors at Hillsboro State Bank.[4]

Political career

Since January 2013, Arnold is the state chairman of the Kansas Republican Party (KSGOP). In February 2017, Arnold won a third term as chairman of the KSGOP.[5] Previously, Arnold had been state vice chairman[6] and Finance Director of the KSGOP. Prior to that he had chaired the Sedgwick County Republican Party between 2006 and 2010.

Arnold served for over ten years in the Young Republican National Federation, two years of which as treasurer of the Federation and is also a co-founder of the Republican Men's Leadership Series.[2]

In 2016, Arnold was part of the Convention Rules Committee[7] and the Committee on Arrangements[8] for the 2016 Republican National Convention. Later in the year, he was also one of the State's Presidential Electors.[9]

In June 2017, Arnold publicly declared his consideration of running for the office of Kansas Secretary of State.[4]

Political positions

Arnold is a member of the conservative wing of the Republican Party, speaking out in favor of the "conservative principles and ideas" of the party.[6] In a short article titled "Obamacare", The Debacle, Arnold scolded the Obama administration for its policies concerning the 2012 Benghazi attack, NSA scandal and IRS income tax credit pay outs.[10] When, in 2016, Hillary Clinton made her remark about many citizens in the heartland being "deplorables", Arnold began an email to Kansan party members with the words: "Dear Fellow Members of the Basket of deplorables".[11]

Arnold is a defender of the Second Amendment. Arnold is a fiscal conservative.[12]

Arnold lives in Wichita.[13]
