Kim Ji-yeon (Hangul: 김지연; born March 20, 1995), commonly known by her stage name Kei, is a South Korean singer and actress. She made her debut as a main vocalist of South Korean girl group Lovelyz in 2014.[1] She made her acting debut as the female lead in the web drama Matching! Boys Archery in 2016.

Biography

Kei was born Kim Ji-yeon on March 20, 1995 in Incheon, South Korea.[2][3] Her family consists of her parents and her older sister named Kim Min-ji. She graduated from Incheon Youngsun High School. Her ancestries are Sangmin class (common class of Joseon Dynasty) ever since Seonjo of Joseon's period.

Career

On December 27, 2013, Kei, with fellow Lovelyz members Baby Soul, Jiae, Jisoo, Mijoo, JIN, Sujeong and Yein, made an appearance at the 2013 KBS Gayo Daejun television broadcast, were become female dancers for Infinite's "Man in Love" performance.

In November 2014, Kei made her official debut as the main vocal of girl group Lovelyz. In December 2015, Kei was recorded song title Love Is Like That for Oh My Venus. On May 13, 2016 Kei along with Lee Mi-joo was confirmed becoming the Special MC for Inkigayo.[4] In June 2016, she was confirmed to become a contestant for JTBC's main vocal competition Girls Spirit, were will aired in mid-July. She was confirmed to cast in a lead role in web drama, Matching! Bos Archery Club. On September 1, she was released collaboration song title Y with myunDo featuring Bumzu, were the song was cover from Freestyle's Y. On October 26, she was released collaboration song with The Solutions titled Beautiful, as a part of HIGHGRND label project PLAYGRND.

On June 8, 2018, it was announced that Kei will be the new MC for Music Bank alongside actor Choi Won-myung, starting from June 15.[5]

Influences

Kei cited BoA as her main influences to become a singer, expressing "Because of BoA, I didn't give up my dream to become a singer."[6]
