Kegalu Vidyalaya ("කෑගලු විද්යාලය") is a primary and secondary national school for boys in Kegalle District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka. It was established on 14 February 1942. The school accommodates nearly 3,500 students, with a staff of approximately 200.
History
The school was officially opened on 30 February 1942 by Don Baron Jayatilaka, Gunapala Malalasekara, P. De S. Kularathne, E. W. Adhikaram, H. W. Amarasooriya and Naradha Thero.
Initially, the school was an English-speaking Buddhist co-educational school. Later on, government regulations prompted the language to change to Sinhalese. In addition, these regulations mandated that the school should exclude female students to become an all boy's school.
Kegalu Vidyalaya offers education in both Sinhalese and English.
Houses
The students are divided into four Houses:
