Kayna Logan Whitworth (born July 4, 1982) is a Los Angeles correspondent for ABC News. She has worked in Bend, Oregon, Boise, Idaho, Tucson, Arizona, and Boston, Massachusetts, before joining ABC News in Los Angeles in 2015.

Early life and education

Whitworth was born Kayna Logan Whitworth on July 4,[1] 1982,[2] in Aurora, Colorado,[3] to parents Rocky and Mary Whitworth, where she was raised with her younger brother, Kellen.[4] She was a 2001 Grandview High School graduate[5] and went on to Colorado State University, obtaining her baccalaureate in communication and media studies in 2005.[6][7]

Career

She started her journalism career at KTVZ in Bend, Oregon as a reporter then an anchor, before moving on to become a reporter and anchor at KBOI-TV in Boise, Idaho.[6][7] Her career led her to Tucson, Arizona, where she became an anchor at KOLD-TV. Then she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to WHDH in December 2012 as a weekday morning anchor.[6][7] This caught the attention of ABC News, which hired her in 2015 to be a Los Angeles, California-based correspondent.[6]

Personal life

She started dating WHDH sports reporter Rhett Lewis while they were working in Boston, Massachusetts.[6] He later took a job at the NFL Network in Los Angeles.[6]
