Kathanayaki ( pronunciation ) ("Heroine") is a 1955 Indian Tamil language film, directed by K. Ramnoth and produced by T. R. Sundaram. The film stars Padmini, T. R. Ramachandran, M .N. Rajam and K. A. Thangavelu in lead roles. The film had musical score by G. Ramanathan.[1][2][3]

Music was scored by G. Ramanathan while the lyrics were penned by Suratha, Kannadasan and Thanjai Ramaiah Dass.[4] (Another Swarnalatha was popular later during 1990s and thereafter.)

Reception

According to film historian Randor Guy, the film was not successful as some critics felt it had a "predictable" storyline. However, he praised the performances of the cast, the music and the direction[3]
