Karimganj Junction railway station is a main railway station in Karimganj district, Assam. Its code is KXJ. It serves Karimganj city. The station consists of 3 platforms. The station has been upgraded to a standard Class III Station.[1]
Post gauge conversion the station is connected to Tripura via the newly constructed New Karimganj railway station.[2][3][4] Following the construction of the New Karimganj railway station, railway traffic into Karimganj Junction has drastically reduced. All long distance trains, including the Kanchenjunga Express, Humsafar Express and Rajdhani Express bypass the Karimganj Junction completely by halting and passing through the New Karimganj railway station instead.
