Kangpokpi district

Kangpokpi District is a new district in Manipur created by bifurcating erstwhile Senapati in the Sadar Hills region.

The district headquarters is located in Kangpokpi.

Religion

Around 81.5% of the population is indigenous Naga or Kuki and this population is almost entirely Christian (60.7% Kuki, 19.9% Naga and 0.8% Meitei). Gorkhas (Nepalis, Tamang, Limbu.etc) are 16.3% of the population and they are overwhelmingly Hindu with a tiny Buddhist minority. 1.8% is North Indian immigrant (mostly Bihari, but also some Bengali, Assamese.etc) and they are divided between Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims. South Indian immigrants are 0.4% of the population, and they are mostly Christian (as per the language data from 2011 census).
