Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger (快盗戦隊ルパンレンジャーVS警察戦隊パトレンジャー, Kaitō Sentai Rupanrenjā Bui Esu Keisatsu Sentai Patorenjā) is a Japanese tokusatsu television series, and the 42nd and current entry of Toei's long-running Super Sentai metaseries, following Uchu Sentai Kyuranger. This series is the first to feature two different teams of heroes: the gentleman thief-based Lupinrangers and the police-based Patrangers who engage in a three-way battle against an alien criminal organization targeting Earth. It is also the first Super Sentai TV series to not have an ending theme like many of TV Asahi's shows, as well as the last Super Sentai series to air entirely in the Heisei period. Lupinranger VS Patranger premiered on February 11, 2018, joining Kamen Rider Build and later, Kamen Rider Zi-O in the Super Hero Time line-up on TV Asahi affiliate stations.[1][2] Although this series is the 42nd entry in the franchise, Lupinranger is considered as the 42nd Sentai team while Patranger is considered as the 43rd Sentai team.[3][4]

Story

The Lupin Collection, a vast ensemble of dangerous items acquired by the legendary gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, was stolen by an interdimensional crime syndicate known as Gangler. The Gangler receive opposition from two Super Sentai teams: one being the Lupinrangers: Kairi Yano, Toma Yoimachi and Umika Hayami who aim to steal back the collection to not only live up their namesake's reputation but also win back those they have lost. The other team are the Patrangers: Keiichiro Asaka, Sakuya Hikawa and Tsukasa Myojin who are tasked to uphold justice by retrieving the collection and taking down Gangler members. A human drama unfolds that pits the opposing teams against each other as their tale is woven, made more intricate by the Lupin Collection's creator Noël Takao who aids them as the fourth member in both teams with the goal of uniting them miraculously to fight the Gangler together.[2]
