Kaalam Maari Pochu (English:Times have changed) is a 1996 Tamil family comedy film directed by V. Sekhar. The film features Pandiarajan, Sangita, Vadivelu, Kovai Sarala, R. Sundarrajan and Rekha in lead roles. The film had musical score by Deva and was released on 13 April 1996 and emerged as one of the blockbusters of 1996. The film was remade in Malayalam as Arjunan Pillayum Anchu Makkalum and in Kannada as Ellara Mane Dosenu and in Telugu as Family.[1]

Plot

Sadagopan (Vinu Chakravarthy) and Meenakshi (Vadivukkarasi) have four daughters and a son (Raj Chander). Sadagopan always thinks that the son is the asset to him and the daughters are a burden on his head. Sadagopan then searches grooms for his educated three elder daughters and with the help of Iyer (Venniradai Moorthy), they eventually find them. His three daughters Indra (Sangita), Sundari (Kovai Sarala) and Lakshmi (Rekha) finally get married to the auto-rickshaw driver Muthupandi (Pandiarajan), the Corporation worker Sekar (Vadivelu) and the cook Murugesan (R. Sundarrajan) respectively. Three of them wayward husbands want to rely on their wive's property. The three wives did not like their husbands and the quarrel between them become recurrent. Unable to bear her daughters' sufferings, Meenakshi then dies. As the years go by and their situation becomes worst. With children now, the three wives decide to work in a garment factory to support their families. Sadagopan's son then gets married and opens a factory with Sadagopan's savings, his son turns out to be a greedy person who only thinks about himself. The whole story revolves around three families, who the three wives teach a lesson to their husbands and make their father and their brother realize their mistakes.
