Kaal Bhairav Rahasya (Kaal Bhairav Mystery) is an Indian thriller television series. The series aired from 30 October 2017 to 30 April 2018 on Star Bharat.^[2][3][4] The show is shot in Bhopal^[5] and stars Chhavi Pandey, Rahul Sharma and Sargun Kaur.^[6][7][8]

Synopsis

This show story is based on Tamil novel which was also made into a serial called Marmadesam, telecasted in the 90s. The Story begins with Inder (Iqbal Khan), a reporter, goes to Siddhipur's Kaalbhairav temple, which is said to be visited by Shivgan at night. He stays in the temple after the villagers leave. His assistant Manoj stays out. The villagers do aarti outside. Inside the temple aarti start flying in the air, drums begin and Indar hears a dog barking. The next morning he is found dead and his blood is seen on the mouth of dog Kaalbhairav's vahan.

Police take his body to his family.His wife, Preeti (Puja Joshi) and daughter, Minty weep seeing him. Inspector Akshay (Arun Singh Rana) decides to stay in the temple. Village head Thakur and the Sarpanch (Prithvi Zutshi) prevent the additional troops but can't stop Akshay from entering the temple. That night once again the aarti and drums start. After a while, people outside the temple hear a gunshot. The police insist on going into the temple but the Thakur says the temple will only be opened after sunrise. In the morning they find neither Akshay nor the dog's marks. The police search for Akshay.

A young man meets Gauri (Sargun Kaur). He introduces himself as Nandu (Rahul Sharma) and tells the villagers that he has come here to work as the village's priest assistant. Meanwhile, he befriends the villager's chief daughter, Namrata (Chhavi Pandey) and Gauri.

A few days later, Preeti and Minty settle down in the village so as to find the truth of the death of Inder. Aditya (Ahwaan Kumar), Namrata's brother is attracted to Preeti. But Preeti does not like anyone in the village as she holds everyone responsible for the death of her husband. Nandu gets shocked by seeing Preeti. It is revealed that Nandu is actually Rahul and Inder's younger brother. He did not tell anyone in his family that he has come to the village. Rahul tries to hide himself but Preeti notices him. Preeti asks him that why he has come here and the same question is asked by Rahul at the same time. Both give the same answer. Rahul and Preeti want to know that what happens at night in the temple and they doubt that a human being itself is behind all the murders. However, Namrata and Aditya also come to know about the real identity of Rahul/Nandu. They promise that they will never reveal the truth of Rahul. One night, Rahul sees the village"s priest and some other men taking police Akshay body to the forest and lie it down near a tree. After that, they put fire and in a moment everything disappeared. Rahul was shocked and started doubting the priest. The next morning, Rahul the police and gets Gauri's father arrested.

Gauri, who is shattered, is consoled by Rahul.

Later on, everyone comes to know about the true identity of Rahul and they had started hating him. Gauri who was heartbroken had stopped talking to Rahul. But with time, she realised that Rahul did that only for his brother and she re-started talking to Rahul. Gauri starts loving Rahul and she told his father about that. Namrata also starts loving Rahul and told Aditya about this. Rahul liked and had some feelings for Namrata and considered Gauri as his best friend.

After some time it was revealed that the mystery behind all the murders was Namrata. However, Aditya got to know about this and was killed by his sister Namrata. The same day , before going to the underground, Aditya had warned Rahul that Data Thakur has sent Laakhan Paal and the other goons to kill Rahul. Although knowing that, Rahul didn't care about this and wanted to go to the underground to find Preeti and the others. Aditya tried to convince him to not go there but in vain. So, Aditya told him to hide at a safe place and he'll go there instead. Rahul agreed and told him the way. Adiya went there. Meanwhile, Rahul got a phone call from Gauri and she told him that where he is and told him to stay there and wait for her to come. A few minutes later, Gauri came and told Rahul that while she was praying to lord Kaalbhairav, she dreamt that Aditya is killing Preeti. As all the dreams that Gauri dreams nowadays start becoming true Rahul started getting tense and told Gauri that he has told Aditya the way to go to the underground. At the same time, they hear the sound of a jeep and it was the jeep of Lakhan Paal. Rahul and Gauri started running by holding each other's hand and Lakhan Paal and the others also ran behind them. Suddenly, Rahul knocked down by a rock.

Gauri is getting messages from the real lord Kaalbhairav in her dreams and some of the dreams that she has started dreaming is becoming true. Namrata gets Rahul kidnapped as she came to know that Rahul had told Aditya to go there. She thought that if Aditya didn't go to the underground and discovered the mystery, she wouldn't have to kill Aditya.

Dada Thakur also comes to know about the true colours of Namrata but Namrata comes to know about that and she gave him an injection at his neck and he started feeling dizzy. But still, he strangled Namrata and lifted her in the air. But at the same time, Namrata's men hit Dada Thakur with a pulp of wood at his back of his neck and Data Thakur started getting dizzier and he could not continue to lift Namrata in the air so, he let his hand down and immediately, Namrata stood on her heels. Again, Data Thakur tried to strangle her but when he was about to do that, his hands were shaking and Namrata grabbed his hand and pushed him down. This is because she had put a paralysis injection to him. Then she opens the next mystery that she is just doing these for Rahul's love and all the papers and the voice changer's voice is in Data Thakur's name and other villagers will believe that this is done by him only. Namrata also reveals that she already knew that her father has killed her mother and she is doing that also to take revenge from Data Thakur for the death of her mother and also to get the 9 golden shivalings so as to get a large amount of Money. Currently, the character of Data Thakur has been sidelined.

Rahul, who is kidnapped at Sarpanh's house where Sheru was kept, wanted to get out from here and find the mystery which he was about to find before getting kidnapped. He asked Sarpanch for help but he was helpless as the mastermind (Namrata) behind all the mystery had put one of her men at Sarpanch's house so that Sarpanch cannot help Rahul to get out from there and told him that her daughter, Soumya is not dead and is kidnapped by him and if he helps Rahul, Soumya will be killed

However now the show takes a twist where it is revealed that Rahul did had feelings for Namrata before finding the truth of the mystery but while spending more time with Gauri , Rahul has developed those feelings for Gauri and has started loving her. Preeti went at Gauri's place to fix Gauri and Rahul's alliance as Preeti also knew tha Gauri also loves Rahul as Pujari ji had come to Rahul's place to fix Gauri's alliance with him but Rahul intentionally lied that he loves someone else, with whom he had studied the same college as he did not want to get married before finding the mystery. Pujari ji accepts the alliance but Gauri says that she does love Rahul but as many problems and incidents are happening in the village. Rahul understands Gauri and giver her time. However now, the show is currently focusing on the searching for the 9 Shivalings by Namrata, Gauri, Rahul, Dr.Shirvastav and Cid officer Yash Paal but separately. Namrata and Gauri are together and Rahul, the DR, and Cid officer are together. However, Namrata is still pretending to be innocent and naive in front of everyone. Once finding all the 9 Shivalings she has decided to get rid of Gauri aka kill Gauri as she thinks that Gauri is the rift between Rahul and her as Gauri and Rahul has started loving each other. She is also pretending as if she wants to get the 9 Shivalings for the welfare of the village but in reality she wants them for money. Her friend Latika (Simar Kaur Suri), has kidnapped Data Thakur and Lakhan Paal as both of them also know the truth of Namrata. With the help of Gauri and her dreams that come true, Namrata succeeds in finding 5 of the 9 shivalings. She put a toxic powder in Rahul's car which made Gauri and Rahul fall unconscious and like this she stole the 5 shivalings.

However, in finding the 9 shivalings, Gauri comes to know the real face of Namrata. She succeeds in rescuing Data Thakur and Kaakhan Paal from Namrata's captivity and they now have a 2nd mission to expose Namrata. Meanwhile, Namrata and Rahul continue finding the 9 shivalings and Namrata comes to know that Gauri knows her real face. She wants to kill her. Latika is also with her. Namrata and Rahul found 1 shivaling with a bald man whose wife was an evil sorcerer. He says to them that he will give it to them only in one condition that they'll help him to return the shivaling to Siddhpur. They unwillingly agree. Namrata takes them to Latika's home where the bald man soon worships one the shivaling. However later, the bald man is emotionally manipulated by Namrata and tells her that Rahul can be controlled by her by using magic. The magic steps were about to complete but Latika comes and breaks the magical chain which the bald man gave to Namrata and pushes the bald man on the floor. Latika tells Namrata that it's all a nonsense and she doesn't want to land in any trouble or problem anymore. This creates a dangerous fight between Namrata and Latika and both tried to kill each other. Latika becomes unconscious. Namrata remembers what to do with Rahul who is unconscious and succeeds. However, when she has just finished; Gauri comes and makes her reveals everything. She asks Rahul to get up and Namrata thinks that she is done. But Gauri gets shocked by seeing Rahul holding a knife a walking towards her. He tries to kill her as per Namrata's order.(He has already been in Namrata's control). Gauri is saved by Latika who soon her by escaping. However after many incidents Latuka mend her ways and another mystery is revealed that Inder us alive and is living as Seith Ji. He is actually the main mastermind and wants to use the 9 shivalings for himself and to become a living God. Later on, Rahul and Gauri succeeds in finding the 9 shivalings and the shivalings are soon established in the temple. However Rahul and Latika wants to hand over to government as many murders have occurred because of them.

In the end, Latika is revealed to be Inder's 2nd wife has bad intentions like him. She tries to kill Rahul in the temple along with Inder at night. But Rahul does not die and instead, Namrata, who has reformed and is ready to repent, save Rahul by stabbing Latika with a "Trishool". However, Inder seeks revenge by killing Namrata. Namrata dies in Rahul' Arms, saying Rahul one last "I love you" although she knows tha Rahul and Gauri are meant for each other. Rahul is weak and Inder opens the temple's gate and sees that all the villagers were there. Gauri already new that Rahul was in danger so that's why she made everyone gathered there. Inder prevents them from entering as he had put bombs in the entire village. However, Rudra, the truck driver, who claimed to be a messenger of God, is revealed to be none than Lord Kaal Bhairav in disguise, and had come to aid the Rahul, Gauri and the other villagers to restore the Shivlings. Lord Kaal Bhairav then kills Inder and restores the shivalings to the temple, and disappears along with Shambhu Baba, who is revealed to be his mount (Vahan). Then Rahul's perception towards god change he starts to believe in gods especially Lord Kaal Bhairav.
