The Kałłа́ur family (Belarusian: Калавур, Kałavur; Russian: Каллаур) was a szlachta family originating from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and later the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, and was a noble family in the Russian Empire after the Partitions of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.[1]

History

The landed property "Kałłaurowiczy" in powiat of Pinsk was mentioned for the first time in 1524. The members of family held public offices in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. For example, szlachcic Pronka Kałłaur was a woźny (the post of court) of Pinsk. During the 17-19th centuries, the families were settling in Pinsk, Asaŭcy, Lemiaševičy etc.[2] In 1767, szlachcic Dawid Kałłaur was living in Kałłaurowiczy.[3] The members of family had been supporting the January Uprising in 1863-1864. The monument in honor of the rebels Vasilij, Semen Kałłaur and Anton Šałamicky was installed in 1933 in Šałomičy near Pinsk.[4]

In the 1940-1950s the some family members were repressed. According to the open lists, just from Pinsk Region of Byelorussian SSR were about 7 people[5][6].

  • Vasilij Kałłaur, 1838–1919, chief of Aulie-Ata uyezd, archaeologist and orientalist.[7]
  • Pavel Kallaur, b. 1962, Belarusian economist and head of the National Bank of Belarus.
