KZFS (1280 AM, "Kix 99.3") is a country music radio station in Spokane, Washington. Owned by iHeartMedia, the station's branding originates from its FM translator station K257FX.
History
The station was originally known as KUDY and had a religious format until 2002 when it swapped signals with 590, with the latter's adult standards format occupying the 1280 signal. In 2005, it dropped the adult standards format for a progressive talk format. The station served as the Spokane, Washington affiliate of Air America Radio until Air America went off the air in January 2010. On March 26, 2012, the station flipped to classic country after sister KIXZ flipped to CHR.
On April 11, 2013, the station flipped to sports talk as an affiliate of the Fox Sports Radio network, changing its call letters to the current KZFS.[1]
On April 10, 2015, KZFS changed their format to contemporary Christian, branded as Up 99.3 (relayed on translator K257FX 99.3 FM).[2]
In March 2018, KZFS flipped to country, inheriting the format and branding of KIIX-FM (which flipped to alternative rock on March 5).[3] The previously Christian format was moved to KISC HD2 and rebranded as "Up 98.1".
