KRKW-LP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit radio station licensed by authority of the Federal Communication Commission in Washington DC. It has an effective radiated power of 100 watts on the frequency of 107.3 MHz.[1][2][3][4][5] KRKW-LP uses FM Modulation with an ITU designation of emission type of F3EAF200K.[6] KRKW-LP is supported by donations to the Waimea Baptist Church and by Listeners and accepts no advertisements or Commercial Matter, FCC Rules do allow for Underwriting of Program Material.[7] The license was issued in November 2013 and the first non-test broadcast was in August 2015.

History

The license application was prepared by Ron Olen, station manager, beginning in early 2013. Engineering work was done by George Arthur Rosal Talbot, and has been issued the following FCC Licenses; General Class Radio Telephone License, PG1129206,[8] 2nd Class Radio Telegraph License, T2HQ11103,[9] and an Amateur Extra Class License, AH8H.[10] The Construction Permit was issued by the FCC in March 2014. On-Air brodasting began in August 2015.

The broadcasting facility is located in the basement of the Waimea Baptist Church on the island of Kauai, with the antenna located in the steeple. The studios also house a recording studio used to produce local programming and record local artists for broadcast on air.[11] Waimea Baptist Church in on the National Register of Historic Places.

Personnel

The radio station's director is James C. Merritt who holds a master's degree from Southern Baptist University in Texas. Pastor James is also the senior pastor of the Waimea Baptist Church.

Station manager Ron Olen Holds a Bachelors Degree.

Engineer George Talbot is licensed by the FCC and holds no academic accreditation.
