K283CH (104.5 FM; 104.5 Kiss FM) is a broadcast relay translator, licensed to Houston. It signed on the air August 14, 2015. Their studios were located along the West Loop Freeway in the city’s Uptown along with its sister stations. It was originally the translator for the “La Mejor” programming of KTBZ-FM-HD2. It later changed formats to Urban AC as “104.5 Kiss FM”, and moved its primary feed to KQBT HD-2, after being leased to iHeart Media by the Christian Center of Eternal Life.

History

On August 14, 2015, K283CH signed on the air at 104.5 FM, as K283CH, relaying KTBZ-FM-HD2, and owned by Centro Cristiano de Vida Eterna. It originally aired a Spanish Christian format. The translator used the branding “La Mejor”.

On September 7, 2017, K283CH dropped the Regional Mexican-formatted "La Mejor" programming, while in the process also moving its primary feed from KTBZ-FM's HD2 to KQBT's HD2 sub-channel. With their move to KQBT-HD2, K283CH flipped its Regional Mexican format to Urban AC as "104.5 Kiss FM", having been leased from Centro Cristiano de Vida Eterna to iHeart Media, who wished to compete against long-time Urban One owned Urban AC powerhouse KMJQ, yet did not have an owned and operated facility of their own that the company wished to change formats on, to facilitate the launch of the new format.
